Tucked away in a quiet corner of Fitzrovia, The Rathbone Hotel is a warm and welcoming retreat in one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Surrounded by cafés, bars, and some of the city’s finest restaurants, it brings together everything you want, and need, during a stay in the capital.
This wonderful hotel offers not only the perfect location as a base from where you can easily navigate London’s sights, it is ideal for those visiting the city on a business trip, as we were. The Rathbone is designed to feel warm and intimate, it was a pleasure to arrive back to an oasis of calm and comfort after a full day of corporate meetings.

A family run hotel, the team’s dedication to making each guests’ stay memorable is obvious and very refreshing. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone seems genuinely happy to be working there. With genuine warm smiles and daily greetings, (let’s face it you don’t get this in many hotels), it’s no wonder this hotel is renowned for its friendly, attentive staff.
Let’s get into the details of our stay.
Our Room

We stayed in one of the new Signature Rooms. Designed with a soft, contemporary aesthetic, they are ideal for guests who appreciate a little more space to unwind.
Each room features a UK Super King bed and a large contemporary bathroom with a rain shower and Miller Harris amenities. But most importantly, there’s lots of wardrobe space, luxurious robes and slippers, and…that all important workspace.
We need to work from wherever we are in the world, and a dedicated desk space always deserves a high five when we enter the room!

The fabulous, large bathroom had everything we expect (and more) as standard in a four-star hotel; large vanity unit, heated towel rail, toiletries, yes, all of these come as standard, but the difference is definitely in the detail at The Rathbone. Enormous, fluffy towels, beautiful Miller Harris toiletries, and a stunning double shower that invites you to stay just a little bit longer.
Fitzrovia

Handy for the West End theatres, Fitzrovia is filled with hotels, galleries, and old-school pubs, which as we were to find out, do fabulous food! Charlotte Street is lined with lively bistros and cafés, and as The Rathbone Hotel is just off Charlotte Street, you are spoilt for choice.
Soho, Bloomsbury, Theatreland, Oxford Street, and the British Museum are all within easy walking distance, placing you close to the city’s cultural highlights. In fact, effortlessly connected, The Rathbone makes exploring London easy whether you’re here for business, leisure, or a little of both. We did both and couldn’t have had a better location. We fell a little bit in love with the Fitzrovia area, and of course The Rathbone Hotel.
Where we ate
Well let’s start with the hotel breakfast! What a pleasant surprise. It was a buffet but…again the difference is in the details.

Yes, there were the usual cereals, fresh fruit and toast, but there were cheeses and hams, fresh breads and juices, pastries, and wonderful additions such as the Spanish Omelette, which was delicious! Everything had been displayed with pride and made with passion. By no means the largest breakfast selection you have seen, but certainly one of the most impressive.

For dinner on both evenings we chose The Wheatsheaf Fitzrovia, a real authentic, historic pub with a great menu. Sunday we demolished a stunning roast beef dinner and the following night, Chicken Ceasar Salad and a juicy burger! We can highly recommend this place, the prices are reasonable too if you’re on a tight budget.
