As 2021 draws to a close, we were invited to stay at the latest holiday property of luxury accommodation specialist, Maison Parfaite.
We have stayed at several of the Maison Parfaite beautiful holiday homes, but we were extra excited for a visit to Skeldale House, an Iconic Building set in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Many of you will have fond memories of Skeldale House from its starring role as the veterinary surgery in the original series of All Creatures Great and Small.
Now you can relive those heart-warming scenes of James Herriot and Siegfried Farnon waltzing in, through the fabulous entrance doors, to be greeted by Mrs Hall and a hearty Yorkshire dinner, after another tension filled day of saving livestock, appeasing the locals and trying to stay on the road in that old Austin!
Skeldale House has been transformed into six gloriously appointed studio suites and one larger apartment, as well as ‘The Surgery’ where guests can take afternoon tea served by private chefs!
We absolutely love this family business, they have got it just right, with stunning holiday properties across Yorkshire in the Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale, Harrogate, York, Leeds City Centre and Robin Hoods Bay.
At Maison Parfaite many of their properties are perfectly sized for large families, or groups of friends – why have a pokey hotel room when you can lounge, laugh, dance, entertain and play in a fabulously opulent social space?
Others are more intimate, suiting couples, small families, or corporate guests, but still providing the full-on glamour of Maison Parfaite as well as the convenience of a home from home with cooking facilities and living space.
Throughout 2021, we have visited much of the UK in the quest for the perfect ‘staycation location’ and we have to admit, Maison Parfaite are hard to beat.
At Skeldale House we were booked into The Tricky Woo Suite, the largest on offer and of course named after Mrs Pumphrey’s over-indulgent Pekinese dog who frequented the surgery many a time!

The Tricky Woo Suite is a large one bed apartment with kitchen/diner, a large social lounge with a sofa bed and a fabulous master bedroom with cast iron roll top bath and separate shower room.
The suite is suitable for four adults or a family of four as there is a comfortable full sized double sofa bed when pulled out and there is every mod con you could wish for.
After taking in the splendour of the apartment, the house and its location, we nipped across the road to the local pub for some delicious food and a few drinks before settling in back at the apartment.
We knew we were in for a good night’s sleep as Maison Parfaite are famous for their beds! No expense has been spared when it comes to their beds and wow, don’t you know it! We didn’t move all night and really do need to get one of these beds for home.
The following morning, we were up bright and early to explore the area. It was a beautiful crisp day, perfect for a good long walk. After a large, cooked breakfast, we set off and just walked. There are many walking routes, as you would expect and the scenery no matter which direction you take, is truly stunning.
We stayed for two nights and would happily have stayed a week. Skeldale House is THE place to stay whilst exploring all that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer.
More exciting news is that there are more Maison Parfaite have new locations coming into their portfolio in 2022.
Watch this space and check them out, you will be so pleased you did.
