North Yorkshire Water Park Unveils Brand-New Helicopter Glamping Pods

Opening in May 2026, North Yorkshire Water Park is giving visitors the chance to sleep inside real, converted RAF helicopters. Guests will be able to book stays at Westland Sea King helicopters ZE369 and XZ589 which served decades of daring search-and-rescue missions across the UK.

North Yorkshire Water Park has announced it is taking camping to new heights with the launch of two new helicopter glamping pods, offering guests the chance to sleep inside real, converted aircrafts.

Set to open on Friday 1st May, these unique stays are a new addition to the park’s existing range of accommodation, which includes camping pods, the campsite and Lake View Lodge. They offer a distinctive blend of adventure and comfort, designed to appeal to couples, families, and guests seeking an alternative short break, providing a memorable addition to the seasonal hospitality landscape.

The pods have been crafted into unique and cosy places to stay while preserving some of their original features and character. Originally built for the RAF for Search and Rescue, both the ZE369 and XZ589 offered decades of service at the forefront of life-saving missions across the UK, carrying out daring rescues in all weather conditions.

Each helicopter includes a double bed with a portal lit window into the tail, along with a set of bunk beds, ideal for children. Guests will also have full access to the cockpit with access to some of the controls and switches, which has been transformed into a dining area. The helicopters are equipped with a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge, and you can also open up the winch operator’s sliding door to steps out onto a gravel landing pad, with a picnic bench to enjoy food and drinks.

North Yorkshire Water Park also provides a wide range of water-based and land-based activities for thrill-seeking visitors. These include attractions such as the Wipeout and Warrior Aqua Park, alongside pursuits including archery and ziplining, catering to a variety of interests. Following a day of activities, the helicopter pod accommodation offers guests a comfortable setting to relax and unwind.

With just two helicopter pods available, demand is expected to be high.
