We couldn’t have been more excited to stay onboard Sunborn London. We have travelled the world far and wide, and experienced many different accommodation options, but staying on a superyacht hotel was to be a first for us.
The location is nothing short of – impressive. The Royal Victoria Dock is the largest of three docks in the Royal Docks of east London, now part of the redeveloped Docklands, a fantastic place to stay with perfect views over Canary Wharf and the 02 Arena. It is also next to Excel London, and couldn’t be more convenient if you are attending an event there.
But let’s talk about superyacht, Sunborn London. As she comes into view, it’s a wow moment and absolutely everyone is taking the opportunity to capture her impossibly sleek exterior which showcases polished decks and dazzling walls of glass. She looked stunning in the late winter sun.
Inside every space is designed for luxury and comfort and oozes style and character.
You enter via a lift which takes you to the reception deck. The curved double staircase in the centre is complemented by a grand chandelier and the overall feel is of grandeur of days gone by. Over five decks there are shiny brass fittings and mirrors, cream panelling and lots of impressive stained oak.
Our Cabin
We received a warm welcome at the reception desk and in the bar, and check-in was quick and easy.
There’s 138 rooms and four suites and they are huge! We had a waterside room in a Yacht Executive Room, with a balcony that looked out onto the beautiful skyline. Had the weather been warmer, we would have used the balcony much more for morning coffee and an evening drink. But it was freezing outside, so we admired the panoramic view and retreated to the warmth of our cabin for that evening drink.

Eat and Drink
The bright Sundown Bar – again, all wood and gold fittings – offers views across the dock towards The O2; you can sit outside too in warmer weather, which is great for sunsets and cocktails.
The Lands End Restaurant is an open plan room again with beautiful views of the Docklands and a varied menu. A self-service buffet breakfast menu is also served here and it makes the perfect backdrop for Afternoon Tea.
Sundown Bar is open to the public as well as hotel guests. It’s also a great place to relax with a couple of drinks after dinner in the restaurant.
