How Cyprus Put the Spring Back in my Step

The grey of the UK has been getting me down. The collective sigh of the country was almost palpable as we entered March, the month that teases us with the hope of spring.

Jumping on a 4 hour 20 minute flight to Cyprus might just be the answer, as I discovered five very good reasons to visit Cyprus in the spring.

The Weather

Blue skies, 21-degree sunshine with a breeze by the coast that tells you to grab a jumper before you leave. The weather in southern Cyprus at this time of year is zesty! It makes every adventure pleasurable, whether that be climbing Aphrodite’s Nature Trail which will take you to insane views of the coastline, or visiting one of the many archaeological sites. These would be unbearable in the heat of the summer sun.

Less Touristy

Cyprus is home to some of the worlds most well-preserved ruins. The Tomb of King’s in Paphos allows visitor to explore the tombs and I imagine in busier months; children would be very excited to run amok here. Personally, I loved the uninterrupted views of these incredible UNESCO World Heritage sites. The amphitheatre at Nea Pafos opens with its first live performance this month. Such an incredible setting to take in a show.

Easier to Book Tours

There is so much to do on the island. In summer there is no doubt I would be heading for the beach with a book in hand and it would have that meant I missed out on traditional Halloumi and bread making at Sofia and Andrea’s house, and tours of the local wineries. There are also stunning monasteries up in the hills and classes to make Palouze, the traditional sweets of the island.

The Colours

Blue and green shall never be seen, apart from in Cyprus in Spring. This time of year, gives you the best of both worlds with the aqua marine blues of their award-winning clear waters setting off the golden ruins, beautifully framed by the flowers in bloom. The dopamine inducing views driving over the Akamas Peninsular were absolutely gorgeous.

More Economical

Coral Beach Hotel and Resort

The hotel scene in Cyprus is thriving. We stayed at the family friendly Coral Beach Hotel and Resort in Paphos and finished our stay at the glamourous, luxurious Amara Hotel in Limassol.

Amara Hotel

Pimp your stay by avoiding those pesky school holiday price hikes and visiting in spring.  It is bliss.
