Exploring Liverpool; First Stop Malmaison

Nestled in the heart of Liverpool’s buzzing, historical city centre, Malmaison Liverpool serves as your perfect base from where to explore the city’s gems.

A short walk from the Liverpool ONE shopping centre, Albert Dock and Echo Arena, Malmaison Liverpool brings all the best attractions in this vibrant city right to your doorstep.

This was to be our first adventure in ‘The Pool’ and we had a list of things to do, in only three days. The location of this hotel made it really easy to tick them off.

The location

We drove from Leeds to Liverpool and the ease of everything couldn’t have been better. Especially the secure car park right next to the hotel, where once parked, that’s where our car stayed until we left three days later.

We had been invited to experience one of the new Signature Suites at the hotel – named after the city’s most famous residents, Bertie and Bella, The Liver Birds. Legend has it that they face away from each other as if they were to mate and fly away, Liverpool would cease to exist! Another popular story told about them is that they are chained down, for if they were to fly away the River Mersey would burst its banks and flood the city of Liverpool.

Let’s hope they do neither because Liverpool is a city worth discovering.

Liverpudlians are renowned for their sense of humour and their warmth and our stay exuded both throughout. From the lovely welcome at check in, to our hilarious waiter in Malmaison Bar & Grill. This was a stay we will remember for all the right reasons.

But what about our room?

Our Signature Suite was named after Bella and we had a perfect view of the spectacular waterfront and those famous birds which was breath taking. The suite itself was stunning, with that fabulous view, a sitting room and spacious bedroom with a very comfortable super king-size bed, but the biggest wow was the fantastic luxurious dual walk-in monsoon showers.

Where did we eat?

For dinner we dined in the reimagined Malmaison Bar & Grill where the décor pays homage to the heritage of the city. This restaurant is a real hotspot for both hotel guests and Liverpool’s residents. Serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner it was buzzing with diners all day long. An unusual thing to see in a hotel restaurant, especially in a city awash with great restaurants to tempt them away.

They have a large selection of menus to choose from, including one dedicated to kids, but you absolutely must try something from the Josper Grill offerings on the a la carte menu because the steaks are to die for!

Breakfast was really good too with plenty to choose from, and cooked to order, which makes such a difference.

It just goes to show that the balance of such comfortable surroundings, seasonal menus offering a diverse array of classic and modern dishes and their chic bar are the perfect combination. The prime waterside location and Scouse hospitality are cherries on top!

Malmaison Bar & Grill. A stylish fusion grill restaurant, the chefs are passionate about creating high-quality food packed with flavour, with a strong focus on prime grass-fed British beef, hand-cut and expertly matured for the fullest natural flavour. Whilst the mixologists infuse ingredients to create the finest collection of bold and characterful cocktails. Dockside dining at its best.

What a find! Decadence on the docks where you can experience the extraordinary.
