Experience the Extraordinary at Crewe Hall Hotel and Spa

As we turned into the picturesque tree lined driveway, our first thoughts were ‘wow.’ We slowly crept up the mile long drive which led us to the most stunning Jacobean Mansion, and we honestly felt like we had stepped back in time to some Bridgerton-esque era.

It was no surprise that there were two weddings having their photos taken in the grounds as the background at Crewe Hall Hotel is incredible.

We walked up the stone steps to enter the Grade 1 listed building and truly entered history. Crewe Hall is steeped in history and the original building has been kept in such magnificent detail. The reception hall has high wooden ceilings with beautiful carved arches and stained-glass windows. To imagine people building and designing them all those years ago is incredible.

To the left of the reception, we saw the afternoon tearoom whilst to the right there is the parlour which has two distinctive monkeys either side of the fireplace. Legend has it that rubbing the nose of the left monkey will bring you wealth and the right will give you health. No surprises that the left nose has all but gone given the servants of the original house rubbed it in hope of a brighter future.

We then crept to the back of the reception hall where the most humbling, peaceful and calming church was situated. We spent the afternoon pottering around the house, taking in all the history before we ventured outside to amble round the gardens.

The beauty of Crewe Hall is the original building; however, it prides itself on heritage meeting contemporary and the modern extension is beautifully paired with the Jacobean mansion. A clear glass corridor links the two with the modern extension having a spa and health club, function suite and brassiere.

We travelled as a family, bringing our two girls on the adventure to a big hotel. Staff could not have been more accommodating and roll out beds/cots/highchairs where all made available to us.

We spent the afternoon in the pool before returning to our suite to change for dinner at the brassiere.

Over the two nights we dined on Leek and Potato Soup, Spiced Cauliflower Wings, Chicken Liver Parfait Pot and BBQ Glazed Meatballs for our starters, and for our main courses – The Classic Burger and The Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. The food was incredible and the atmosphere relaxing for the wind down of the evening. A separate bar space with a wide variety of drinks allows for the evening to continue after the meal.

As we returned to the clean spacious suite for the night, the blackout blinds meant the girls could instantly drift to sleep whilst Mum and Dad shared some wine chilled from the room fridge and relaxed!

The morning breakfast buffet was exceptional and a there was an option for everyone.

We spent the following day exploring Nantwich and left feeling relaxed, refreshed and dreaming of our next get away as a family following the success of Crewe Hall.

We highly recommend Crewe Hall for your next trip away, it’s the perfect romantic getaway or family break – we loved it!
