Prices are from £30 per person per night (based on six sharing a 3-bed cabin). From its central Shropshire location in a stunning woodland setting on the banks of the River Perry, Riverside Cabins has the county’s cost-free line-up on tap. Highlights include a day exploring the delights of Shrewsbury with its fabulous indoor foodie market, free-to-enter museums, art galleries, fascinating ‘shuts and passages’ backstreets and independent-shop-filled Wyle Cop. Then there’s the picturesque Whittington Castle, Old Oswestry’s huge hillfort and the UNESCO World Heritage site of the world’s first bridge made of iron, Ironbridge. For nature-lovers, the options include the canal paths and meres of Ellesmere and the stunning network of walking options in Shropshire Hills, busting with colour in autumn.

Riverside Cabins is the perfect base to explore all this. Or, for those keen to stay-put, there are plenty of colourful autumn walks from the door, as well as fishing from the riverbank, kayaking or paddle boarding (guests can help themselves to the equipment for free) and wild swimming in the river’s natural plunge pool.
