The Marshall family is inviting people to discover the tiny dale of Wenningdale in the northwest of England by hosting a special open weekend in September at their three leisure locations in Bentham.
Though off the beaten tourist track, Bentham sits neatly between the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland, which ticks all the boxes for lovers of the outdoor life.
The Open Weekend, running from Friday, September 13th, through to Monday, September 16th, aims to highlight everything Wenningdale has to offer visitors and locals alike. Tours of Bentham Golf Course showcase golf, indoor golf, a driving range, and the 1922 Bar & Kitchen. Luxury lodges and glamping are available at Wenningdale Escapes, and river and lake fishing is available at Riverside Caravan Park.
John Marshall, whose parents farmed in Bentham before diversifying into the leisure industry in 1969, is a huge advocate of the hidden gem that is Wenningdale and is keen to show off the benefits of Bentham and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.
“Even locals don’t necessarily realise what is on their doorstep in Bentham, so we hope that the Open Weekend gives anyone and everyone a chance to take a tour of our lovely leisure locations. Many people automatically assume golf courses are members-only, for example, so we’re keen to show that here at Bentham, novices and visitors are welcome anytime; it’s a leisure facility, not a private members club.”
The dale is accessed from a winding B road, the B6480. To invite and encourage people to take the B road and find the Open Weekend, the Marshalls are offering discounts on caravan touring pitches at Riverside Caravan Park, and half price golf at Bentham Golf Course and stay in the glamping pods at Wenningdale Escapes. Visitors taking the opportunity to take tours of lodges and holiday homes for sale will be able to enjoy complimentary coffee and cake at 1922 Bar & Kitchen.
