Holiday lets are always finding ways to innovate and provide a better experience for guests.
And with innovation can come a bit of trial and error, however there are some examples of facility upgrades that are too costly to be trialled. Underfloor heating is a good example of this, as it is a tempting upgrade but not something that you’d want to get wrong.
Whether you’re planning to make a lounge more luxurious or get some underfloor heating installed in the bathroom, it’s a big investment and a lot of work to set up.
With that in mind, we’re going to shed some light on some of the key benefits of underfloor heating and whether or not it’s right for your operation.
As well as some of its key benefits, we’ll look at its suitability to your holiday let operation.
The first thing to consider; it’s a large upfront cost

An underfloor heating system and its installation can cost upwards of £3,000 according to Checkatrade, so it’s hardly a small investment.
While some money can be saved as some high quality underfloor heating kits can be suitable for ‘skilled DIYers’ to install, it’s still best to have a professional look over what you have done at the very least.
In terms of running costs, there’s not a huge difference between a gas boiler radiator system and a boiler run underfloor heating system. It’s also a similar price tag to run high-output electric radiators versus an electric underfloor heating kit.
However, as much as the heating would more or less cost the same amount, the heat would be distributed more evenly.
And in a sector where experience really matters, having guests in a comfortable room with no cold spots is absolutely a plus.
It’s highly efficient and low maintenance
Since everything is heated up evenly and that heat rises up, underfloor heating is a great way to get a room warm quickly.
And if you run a holiday let in the UK where the winter can be bitter-cold, that will be appreciated by customers.

To get an idea of how much people appreciate underfloor heating, there are a few case studies online of hotels that have installed UFH. Have a look at the reviews for those hotels and how many of them reference the warm rooms.
And on top of the improved customer experience, they do not need the maintenance that radiators do with semi regular bleeding.
It makes rooms appear bigger
You don’t quite realise how much space a radiator takes up until it isn’t there anymore.
Underfloor heating is a great way to make a room feel more spacious, and even get some more or larger furniture in there,
This is especially the case for holiday apartments or adjoined rooms which would traditionally require 2 or more radiators to heat up.
So is it right for your property?
The simple answer is maybe.
It’s becoming very popular in bathrooms, and if you have the budget or are already planning a retrofit it is definitely worth it.
Rolling it out across an entire let is a larger consideration, but ultimately it is an added luxury, and if that sets you apart from local competition, it’s likely a worthwhile investment.
