How to Dress Your Garden For a Landmark Birthday Celebration

There is nothing better than showing off your garden while hosting a landmark birthday celebration – especially if you have had a long time to plan ahead. This is because it allows you, the gardener, to get a bit of the limelight without being the major attraction.

However, to get everything together for the big day, you will have to put in some hard work, plan the route around and dress your garden carefully so that guests will not stumble on areas that you have neglected or aren’t ready for a grand unveiling.

#1 Prepare the area that you wish to showcase

Of course, it is not just about planting flowers that will be at their prime when the party takes place. You will probably also want to have a particular spectacle or feature to pull your garden together. In daylight, it will likely be evident that this is the main focal point.

However, when the sun goes down, you will require some lighting to pull your guest’s attention. Although there are plenty of solar lights available to purchase, you may feel that you want something a little stronger. If you choose to have lighting running off of your mains supply, you will need to lay the cable for this long before you start planting to ensure that it is deep enough and secure enough underground or around the back of your flower beds that it will not get damaged.

#2 Dress to impress both in daylight and moonlight

Undoubtedly, you will require additional lighting for other areas of your garden as the sun goes down. Fairy lights strung around trees or draped over bushes can provide quite a romantic feel to most outdoor areas. However, you may need to consider lighting pathways at ankle level for safety reasons and providing guests with a route.

In the daylight hours, however, you will have to dress your garden in others ways, perhaps with helium balloons or ribbons spotted here and there to remind guests that they are there to celebrate a birthday of a loved one and not just to admire your beautiful garden.

#3 Ensure all guests are comfortable

dress your garden outdoor heating

When you are planning an outdoor event, it is always a good idea to keep an eye on the weather. Even on the warmest of days in Britain, the evening can feel a bit chilly. If you want your guests to hang around and feel comfortable, then it would be well worth your while to hire some portable event heating and place it in various areas of your garden where you think your guests are likely to settle.

You can make these areas even more evident by placing chairs and other outdoor seating around the event heaters. It is good manners to have warm blankets thrown across these seats so that guests can wrap themselves as the evening cools down if they wish.

Final thoughts

Indeed, getting your garden ready is hard work, and dressing it up to impress will most certainly be far more fun. However, hearing your guest’s comments as they wander around your garden will have your chest swelling in pride of a job well done, and this will last long into the evening if you make sure that they have plenty of options to keep themselves warm. It can be fun to dress your garden.
