Are Plantation Shutters Blackout?

Light coming in when you are trying to work or sleep can be really annoying and there are numerous different methods that are available for anyone that is looking to deal with this nuisance.

When it comes to available options, shutters are arguably one of the best options that you can go with, especially plantation shutters, but that does not mean that they are 100% blackout.  When you compare plantation shutters to their counterparts such as other kinds of shutters, blinds, curtains, etc… you will definitely notice a difference in the amount of light that gets through.

The reason that plantation shutters aren’t absolutely blackout is because of the gaps between the louvres and the frame itself. Compared to the common light solution of blackout curtains there is much greater potential for the light to come through due to the gaps where each curtain meets and at the top and sides. Even think about blackout blinds which will also have light coming from the sides, and maybe even coming from the holes where the cord comes through.

This is even more evident if you are working with windows that are less common such as bay windows, typically shutters are really the only option when it comes to blackout solutions.

Plantation shutters in Bromley are specifically designed for you to have much more control over the amount of light that is able to enter through the window. This increase in light control is why they are the best option when it comes to blackout solutions. You are also able to decide on the size of the slats which also increases the amount of control you have over the light level. When you do want the light to enter the room you are able to tilt the slats open or open the shutters fully. This means that you can control the exact amount of light that is able to enter.

Solid shutters tilted upwards are the best option when it comes to blacking out your windows, but you can also opt for plantation shutters that use other methods at the same time for a maximum amount of blackout. You could go with plantation shutters with integrated blackout blinds, you could go with shutters that have blackout blinds behind them or even use shutters and curtains at the same time.

On their own plantation shutters aren’t a guaranteed blackout solution but they are most likely the best solution if you aren’t opting for more than one at the same time. However, if you do need maximum light blackout due to reasons such as needing to sleep during the day, the best thing that you can do is try a couple of different methods with plantation shutters so that you can increase the amount of blackout.

Plantation shutters will not only be your best option when it comes to blackout solutions but they will also look great in any home while providing this benefit. Plantation shutters are incredibly popular with homeowners in the UK and all around the world, and it is easy to see why, so, if you are in need of something that will help blackout light and look great at the same time then consider plantation shutters.
