Top Notch Review of Poke House Victoria, London

If, like our writer you've never tried a poke bowl or don't know what one is check out this review as it's likely to get you feeling hungry.

If you are looking for a super healthy lunch on the run when in Victoria, London then look no further than Poke House.

Our writer Rachel McAlley was in London recently and she needed a quick take out lunch to enjoy whilst on the move. Rather than going to a fast food joint where everything would be deep-fried or covered with bread she opted for a bowl filled with tasty goodness.

Poke House is a healthy alternative fast food outlet, and simply put ‘It’s a rainbow in a bowl!’

Poke originates from Hawaiian cuisine, and traditionally is a colourful mix of proteins, fruits and veggies. It’s been given a little Californian twist with neon lights in each Poke House, furniture made from natural materials, and the playlist is all about the Californian vibes. But the food, the food is all about wellbeing and flavour, which both Californians and Hawaiians are known for.

The Review

So, what did Rachel choose for her first ever Poke bowl?

I opted for a ‘choose your own’ bowl and went for the regular sized option (£9.95). Firstly I was asked to decide what I wanted my base to be, so I chose Tricolour Quinoa, but I could have had rice, noodles or kale. Secondly I needed to choose my greens, I went for avocado, edamame, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and spring onion, but again there were tonnes of ‘greens’ to choose from. My third addition was protein, so my choice for this was big juicy prawns. Finally I could dress it and crisp it, I dressed my Poke House bowl with special sauce, and I added nori seaweed and cashews for a bit of crunch.

Now, I could have chosen one of the many House Bowls, all packed with yummy deliciousness, but I went off piste and chose my own. Do I regret this decision, not at all. I enjoyed every single morsel from within my Poke bowl, but I must admit the Spicy Tuna bowl and the Teriyaki and Ginger Chicken bowl did look amazing!

Next time you’re visiting the capital I would highly recommend popping along to Poke House Victoria and ordering yourself a bowl filled with rainbow coloured fruit and veg. £9.95 for regular and £11.95 for large. You pay a little extra to have avocado in your Poke House bowl, and you can even order Avocado House Toast as a supplementary side dish if you fancy. There is Hawaiian Mochi for dessert if you’re in need of something sweet to end your Poke House experience.

Would I re-visit? Yes, 100% I would return to Poke House Victoria!
