Unplugged Launches First Seafront Cabins

Unplugged, the UK’s original digital detox escape, introduces its first seafront cabins designed for switching off by the sea.

Located along the Somerset coast, “Barclay” and “Wilfred” follow the same off-grid blueprint as Unplugged’s existing countryside stays, encouraging guests to disconnect from technology, but with the addition of uninterrupted ocean views in these seafront cabins.

Both cabins are equipped with Unplugged’s signature features, including a lockbox for phones, powerful hot shower, log burner, linen by Piglet in Bed, books, games and an instant camera – everything you need for a digital detox stay.

The cabins are located in Porlock, Somerset, set high on the hillside for a front-row seat to the ocean. Day trips can be taken to the nearby seaside town of Porlock Weir, while the surrounding area offers access to coastal walks.

Unplugged’s co-founder Hector Hughes says: “Nature has always been at the heart of where we chose to locate our cabins. That started with woodland locations and now we’re delighted to expand the coast.

“The ocean is a powerful tool for mental and physical restoration – the rhythmic sound of the waves and the sight of the vast blue – and we think it compliments our off-grid offering perfectly. With UK staycations booming, we expect these cabins will be in very high demand this summer.”

Since launching in 2020, Unplugged has grown quickly to 50+ cabins across the UK, recording 83% occupancy in 2025. Most recently, it partnered with Healf to introduce Helix, its first wellbeing cabin, with these new seafront cabins marking the next step in its growth and reflecting continued demand.

All escapes are for three nights, the optimum time for a digital detox, and start from £420 per cabin. For more information about Barclay and Wilfred, and to book your escape please visit the Unplugged website.
