A Luxury Overnight Spa Break for £169

With accommodation, meals, full spa access and a 55-minute treatment included, Titanic Spa’s October offer packs a lot into one overnight escape.

There are some occasions when only a spa break will do. Not a quick treatment squeezed into a busy week, but a full switch-off, robe-on, phone-down, nowhere-else-to-be kind of escape. And while luxury spa breaks can become expensive very quickly once you factor in accommodation, food and treatments, Titanic Spa’s October Early Bird Break offers all of that from £169 per person.

So, in the name of research, I headed back to Titanic Spa with my mum, Pamela, for a mother-and-daughter overnight stay.

A FULL DAY TO SWITCH OFF

Set inside a restored textile mill in Linthwaite, near Huddersfield, Titanic Spa has long been one of Yorkshire’s best-known spa destinations. Standard spa arrival is from 10.30am, with apartment check-in from 2pm, which means you can arrive in the morning and make a full day of it before even thinking about unpacking.

The spa facilities are extensive, with an indoor swimming pool and Hydrozone, outdoor hot tub and a Heat and Ice Experience that includes an Aromatherapy Room, Himalayan Salt Sauna, Crystal Steam Room, Herbal Infusion Room, Saunarium, reflexology footbaths, plunge pool, Ice Room and Experience Shower.

Mother and daughter spa break

Then there is the Relaxation Lounge, which remains one of my favourite areas. Low lighting, oversized beanbags and the encouragement to do very little at all is exactly what I want from a spa day.

WHAT £169 ACTUALLY GETS YOU

Their overnight offer is particularly appealing as the package includes overnight accommodation, continental breakfast, a one-course light lunch, a two-course evening meal, full use of the spa facilities and one 55-minute treatment.

Considering the treatments included are worth up to £114 individually, the value starts to become pretty obvious! Choices include an Elemis Couture Touch, combining deep tissue massage with a personalised facial, an Elemis Pro-Glow Brilliance Facial, a taster facial with scalp massage and a Comfort Zone Facial for men.

Our treatment was booked for 4pm, which worked perfectly after a few hours drifting between the spa facilities and lunch. For me, a treatment is what takes a spa day from pleasant to genuinely restorative, so having a full 55 minutes included in the price is a big part of the appeal.

FROM LUNCH IN ROBES TO DINNER

Lunch is designed to be light, and my Mum and I both chose the same vegetable frittata-style dish with rocket and garlic bread. It was enough to keep us going without feeling too heavy before heading back into the spa.

In the evening, robes are swapped for actual clothes and dinner feels much more like part of an overnight escape. We started with tomato soup, followed by mains of fish with baby potatoes, capers and greens for my Mum, while I went for chicken with seasonal vegetables and a rich jus.

The package also includes access to Bar1911 from 6pm, so there is the option to extend the evening with a drink before heading back upstairs.

MORE THAN JUST A SPA DAY

Accommodation is in Titanic Spa’s apartment-style rooms above the spa, which makes the whole stay feel easy and once you are checked in, there is no need to leave.

Breakfast is served in the apartment the following morning, before final use of the facilities and check-out at 10am. You arrive in the morning, spend the day using the facilities, have lunch, enjoy a 55-minute treatment, sit down for dinner, stay overnight and wake up to breakfast before one final slow morning.

For a mother-and-daughter break, it gave Mum and me exactly what we wanted: time to talk, time to relax and no reason to rush anywhere.

And at £169 per person, Monday to Thursday during October, it is a reminder that a luxury spa break does not always have to come with a luxury price tag.
