Yorkshire Garden Gin has been conscientiously crafted by Yorkshire Explorer using flavours inspired by a traditional English afternoon in the country, while highlighting the strong sustainable values at the heart of the brand.
The artisan gin, which is available to buy now, has been specifically developed to incorporate re-purposed ingredients that would otherwise be thrown away. Handpicked flavours including mint, cucumber, lime, elderflower and apple juice, are collected by Yorkshire Explorer founder and skilled mixologist, Callum Houston, in order to reduce waste and create a unique gin taste.
Callum, who also runs events company, Yorkshire Bartender, spends much of his time perfecting and mixing cocktails as part of his bespoke bar hire service, which can result in an accumulation of waste.
Callum, realising the potential of the discarded ingredients, set about conceiving a gin that puts the otherwise unwanted summer flavours to excellent use.
As demand for his bar hire service increases so too does the food waste and, for Callum, who is passionate about creating spirits using local, sustainably sourced produce, it seemed only right that the leftover ingredients were turned into something special, that could still be enjoyed.
He said: “Unfortunately there can be leftover produce when I run a pop-up bar so I wanted to find a way to re-use these flavours. Sustainability is always at the heart of everything I create, from the ingredients we use to the way we distil. You can still make interesting, bold flavours that taste great without incurring waste and that’s what I have done with Yorkshire Garden.”
