This lady is back, my God is she back!

The Queens Hotel – majestic and totally fabulous; this landmark hotel overlooking Leeds City Square excels in every way.

An impressively grand building dating back to 1937, The Queens has all the wow and wonder of Art Deco style elegance and an unwavering commitment to first rate service and standards. A right royal £16 million transformation in 2021 places this hotel firmly at the top of what Leeds has to offer – 232 elegant stylish bedrooms, a wide range of meeting and events spaces, Cafe Pacific in the lobby and the delightfully decadent Grand Pacific restaurant and bar.

Having been lucky enough to be invited to have a look at the transformation before re-opening to the public, I was excited to experience first-hand what every guest could expect. This happened a few weeks after their official grand re-opening and to say our expectations were exceeded is an understatement – they were superseded!

This grand old lady of Leeds had passed her heyday, she was tired and in need of some love and attention – a lot of love and attention. Still revered as the only place in Leeds to hold fabulously large events, launches and business meetings, The Queens maintained a level of service her more modern counterparts lacked.

That is until a £16 million transformation took place throughout lockdown.

The location has always been unrivalled with direct access to Leeds Train Station and a private, exclusive entrance from the station concourse. The city is quite literally on the doorstep, you have all that Leeds has to offer at your feet.

Celebrating over 80 years in the city, this beautifully modernised hotel not only pays homage to its rich and iconic history but most importantly, it plays to the ‘new way’ people are now using exciting city-centre hotel spaces.

The first major change is the lobby and reception. The lobby is now a perfect meeting place for one to one or small group meetings and ideal if you want a place to work from the city centre now and then, catch up on emails between appointments, conduct interviews or meet with clients. There are so many private seating areas and top-class refreshments on hand by Café Pacific that makes this the perfect place to work from.

If you would prefer a private meeting space, the meetings and events rooms at The Queens are awe-inspiring, the go-to destination for any serious business function, they have an enviable reputation for offering the finest facilities in the city.

The elegance and grandeur of The Queens flows through every one of their exquisite bedrooms. All 232 bedrooms received a complete transformation in 2021. When we stayed, our own room had touches we brought back to implement into our own home! Design ideas and finishing touches we haven’t seen anywhere else, we were totally inspired.

The Queens Leeds

This brings me to the brand-new jewel in the crown of this amazing transformation. The pièce de resistance!

In partnership with Living Ventures, the hotel brings you their homage to the golden age of high society, where deep rhythmic baselines writhe through the air and sweet botanicals tantalise the senses. A mysterious exotic oasis splashed with eastern excitement and seasoned with echoes of empire. This is Grand Pacific.

Grand Pacific is a restaurant like no other, a place where flavours from far flung lands, fuse together with quintessential British classics. Think Tempura Szechuan Sea Bass, Asian Spiced Duck Cottage Pie, High Tea and more. So much more!

The stunning bar at Grand Pacific is the perfect place to start your dining experience (as we did), to meet with friends or colleagues for cocktails and, whether your tipple is champagne or a perfectly crafted Smoked Pineapple Daquiri, here you will discover a world of beautifully mixed cocktails and drinks from all over the globe.

However, this experience deserves its own feature. Watch this space.

For now, just make sure that you visit The Queens Hotel for your Leeds city break, meeting or event.

This lady is back, my God is she back!
