The Millfield York – Brand New Dishes At Beefeater

This season, Beefeater is firing up the grill with its new menu featuring a line-up of seasonal, flavour packed dishes designed to bring friends and families together.

We sent our writer, Rachel McAlley along for a spot of lunch to sample a few of the new dishes, to see what’s on the menu. She and her guest dined at The Millfield, York a Beefeater restaurant.

Starters set the tone with the arrival of Loaded Signature Flatbreads, freshly baked and finished with toppings such as garlic, mozzarella and cheddar. Alternatively, you could opt for green pesto with fresh tomatoes and Grana Padano cheese. Finally, on the flatbread menu there’s harissa red pepper and feta. Another new starter to get your teeth into is the ’74 Double-Crunch Chicken Wings. They are seasoned with a signature spice blend and smothered with honey and sriracha. Also, you could choose mango, peach and habanero wings; or garlic butter and Grana Padano wings.

Delicious Starters at The Millfield

Chicken Wings & Crispy Beef to start with menu

We chose the ’74 Double-Crunch Chicken wings with honey & sriracha (£7.19), and the ’74 BBQ Crispy Beef (£7.19). Absolutely delicious, especially the beef, which was mouth-wateringly good when wrapped in baby gem lettuce. Equally, the wings really did pack a crunch and a punch, the crispy coating was insanely tasty.

The main event is where Beefeater’s knowledge and skill on the grill truly shines. Using high quality ingredients, take your pick from new additions that include the Hoisin ’74 Pork Rib Stack. Or, the ’74 Surf & Turf Burger; a 4oz Beefeater signature recipe beef patty made from a mix of short rib, chuck, flank and bone marrow. The burger is topped with double crunch prawns, Monterey Jack cheese and spicy mayo.

Why not go for the new Beefeater Sharing Feast for two, piled high with a BBQ bone-in beef short rib, 8oz sirloin steak, and BBQ crispy beef. Plus, loaded garlic, mozzarella & cheddar signature flatbread, beer-battered onion rings, and ‘74 seasoned potato wedges. Furthermore, you’ll get flat mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, rocket & tomato salad and a choice of sauces for the table.

Beefeater’s steaks remain as a signature grill staple, from fillet to rump, all sourced from British and Irish farms and matured for 30 days to lock in flavour and tenderness. Likewise, other dishes fresh from the grill include the Pesto Sea Bass Fillet with crushed roasted potatoes & grilled asparagus. Not forgetting, the chargrilled Halloumi Skewer with a fresh Greek salad.

Excellent Sunday Roast at The Millfield

Sunday Roast Beef & Chicken at The Millfield Beefeater

When it comes to a roast, Sundays couldn’t be better with a choice of sirloin of beef gammon, or vegetarian roast, each served with all the trimmings and optional bottomless extras of crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy.

This was what we went for, the Roast Beef (£16.99) and the Roast Chargrilled Chicken (£15.49), both served with all the trimmings. We even ordered a side of Cauliflower Cheese (£2.49), and bottomless roasties (£1.49)!

I ordered the beef and my guest the chicken, but we both swapped! I ended up eating the chicken, as it was succulent and charred perfectly, and my guest ate the beef as it was slightly pink, just the way she likes it. Not to mention, but the Yorkshire puds were special, and the roasties delicious. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Delectable Desserts at The Millfield

Dessert of Sundae in tall glass and Chocolate Fudge Cake

Diners looking to satisfy their sweet tooth will not be disappointed, as the change of seasons makes way for new heartier desserts. Beefeater’s Apple & Blackberry Crumble Sundae, and the warming Bread & Butter Pudding with Chocolate Orange have arrived on the menu.

Firstly, we opted to try the brand-new Apple & Blackberry Crumble Sundae (£6.89), and the new seasonal Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake (£6.89). Secondly, I think that the sundae stole the show, it was huge, oozing with flavour, and easily shareable. Thirdly, it was served just as it should be in a tall glass, made even taller with loads if squirty cream piled high and plenty of fruity sauce.
