There’s been an explosion of Home Recipe Boxes over the year, restaurants and bars have worked hard to keep themselves afloat with this idea and it’s been a huge success. Successful because we have been deprived of dining out in every way, so dining in with restaurant food has filled that void.
Something else that has happened is the introduction of Breakfast and Brunch Boxes and if you haven’t tried them – why not? We can guarantee once you have, they will become a firm favourite.
You might think there are only so many items you can put into a box that is dedicated to feeding you breakfast, but you would be very wrong. Especially where BrekBox is concerned.
BrekBox is a Leeds based business, founded by Gabriella, a young mum of three girls. Her idea became a business planned for a January launch, not knowing that we would be entering another lockdown.
However, Gabriella pushed forward with her plan and has been amazed at how popular it has become, and so quickly. The breakfast box she has designed really is a luxury dining experience.
Team H&N were invited to sample the Signature BrekBox and here’s what we thought.
Our box was delivered to our door at the perfect time for brunch and we were hungry!
It was beautifully presented, complete with ribbon – first impressions are so important and BrekBox has nailed this. Opening the box was exciting as we had no idea what to expect. There was a delicious display of colour from the freshest of ingredients, plus a menu card welcoming us to our Brekbox and detailing everything inside. There was even a cute set of wooden cutlery for each person!
We had classic white bagels, crunchy vegetable sticks and dressing, London Cure smoked Scottish salmon, Yorkshire cream cheese, egg dip, tuna dip, freshly squeezed orange juice, cold coffee shake, chocolate button cooler, plain croissant, chocolate croissant, BrekBox’s homemade muffins, creamy yogurt and granola topping and…. fresh fruit!
We stood and stared for a couple of minutes, taking in this beautiful array of produce, trying to decide where to start.
We decided to start the feast with the freshly squeezed orange juice, because there is nothing so satisfying, usually we stick to cartons because of all the faff and mess so this was a real treat. The delicious creamy yogurt with the fresh fruit and granola kicked off the proceedings, swiftly followed by the classic white bagels smothered in Yorkshire cream cheese and topped with London Cured smoked salmon. Absolutely delicious! Not a word was spoken as we devoured this superb spread.
I made some tea and coffee to accompany the croissants and let me tell you that chocolate croissant is a meal in itself! Packed to the gills with decadent chocolate that oozed with every bite.
At this point, we realised we couldn’t eat everything in one sitting and so the cold coffee shake, the chocolate button cooler, crunchy vegetable sticks and dips went into the fridge for later, to be enjoyed as a late lunch with the muffins.
Wow, this was a generous box of deliciousness if ever there was one. We were so impressed by the quality and freshness of every item, prepared and presented so lovingly and, we got two meals out of it!
