Introducing Audrey’s All-day South London Café Bar

Audrey’s all-day South London café bar from the hospitality group (the team behind Flat Iron Square, Tap & Bottle and Goods Way) has now opened in Flat Iron Square. It is equidistant from Borough Market and Southwark Bridge and the perfect spot for al fresco dining!

In fact, the beauty of Audrey’s is that it suits any occasion – brunch on the weekend, a work meeting, lunch in the sun, date night, indecisive groups, after work drinks, you name it and you could do it at Audrey’s.

The site is built on an old Victorian Tram Stop and the building structure cleverly incorporates the existing trees. It gives a lovely welcoming atmosphere inside and out.

They have absolutely nailed the interior which give NYC East Village come London Café with a European twist.  It is very chic and comfortable with banquette seating and lots of light and points of interest.

Audrey’s is open all day for dining from 8am – 11pm, every Wednesday to Saturday – the aim after their soft launch is to serve brunch until 3pm and a la carte menu all day. This concept is perfect for those who like to brunch late or with a group who want different things. I love it, who needs someone telling them they can’t order breakfast after 10.30am?

The all-day a la carte menu is broken into snacks for smaller appetites and sharing plates for two or more to enjoy together. Signature dishes on the menu include Mutton Popcorn served with green chilli ketchup, and Leek Gratin with Chablis, Ogleshield Fondue and parsley crumb.

The dish of the day for me was the Rib Eye Steak with artichoke. Neither battled each other on the plate but the earthy, robust flavours were a taste sensation.

The Pork Schnitzel Sandwich was juicy, substantial and hit the spot, I would also highly recommend the Truffled Steak Tartare too which I sampled at the opening party.

They have a menu of House and Breakfast Cocktails that feature on Audrey’s drinks list. Audrey’s Tea & Biscuits Cognac is a heady mix of chai, lemon, orgeat and cardamom and it was absolutely delicious, although only half filled the glass which is a pet hate of mine!

This is a great addition to the South Bank and I look forward to more al fresco dining throughout the summer.
