To celebrate their half-decade milestone in collaboration, Linthwaite House owned and curated by the Leeu Collection, and Simon Rogan’s restaurant Henrock – which opened in the hotel in the autumn of 2019, will hold a week-long celebration from Wednesday 16th to Sunday 20th October.
To mark five years, since Simon Rogan chose Linthwaite House as the location of his fourth Lake District restaurant, Executive Chef Paul Burgalières and Head Chef Mark McCabe have created a special menu that celebrates the traditional fifth-anniversary gift of wood, using the natural bounty that grows in and around British woodlands, including mushrooms, truffles, nuts, fruits, flowers, woodland herbs, and wild venison. Sample dishes include “Cartmel Valley venison blackened apple tart, begonia”, “Roasted Hen of the Woods, Bay shrimp, oxalis” and “Birch sap syrup, cherry blossom poached cherries and cobnut slice”.
To further mark the occasion Linthwaite House and Henrock have teamed up to offer a unique celebration package, which includes one night’s luxury accommodation, a specially created welcome drink and tasting menu at Henrock, and breakfast cooked by the Linthwaite House kitchen team the next morning. Meanwhile, Linthwaite House’s team will present hotel guests with bespoke gifts from carefully selected, highly respected local producers.
The hotel group, owned by global traveller and entrepreneur, Analjit Singh (aka BAS), operates luxury properties in South Africa and Europe. Each distinctive property in the portfolio is entirely focused on what BAS views as the fundamental cornerstones of hospitality: distinctive architecture, exemplary design, intuitive service, and outstanding food, all of which when combined provide guests with unique and unrivalled experiences.
This fundamental understanding of what makes truly exceptional hospitality experiences first sparked what would prove to be fruitful interactions between BAS and internationally renowned chef Simon Rogan, one of the most influential figures in the farm-to-table gastronomic movement, in early 2019.
These conversations cemented a firm friendship and laid the foundations for the subsequent opening of Henrock by Simon Rogan. The restaurant has since gone on to receive national acclaim, including recognition in the Michelin Guide, and has welcomed thousands of diners from across the world.
Located in one of the UK’s most recognisable regions, overlooking England’s largest lake, Windermere, Lintwhaite House boasts 36 luxuriously appointed guest rooms, a beautiful bar and conservatory and a space that would prove to be an ideal location for a restaurant which would later be known as Henrock.
Named after a rocky outcrop, located on the shores of Windemere, which can be viewed from Linthwaite House, Henrock was billed as a significant departure from Simon’s other restaurants locally; L’Enclume, Aulis Cartmel and Rogan & Co. with their focus rooted in British cooking and ingredients. By contrast, Henrock introduced influences, techniques and produce discovered on the chef’s travels around the globe, namely from operating multi-award-winning restaurants in the Mediterranean and Asia. In line with Simon’s farm-to-table ethos, each seasonal ingredient has been carefully selected, nurtured and grown a few miles away at Our Farm in the heart of the Cartmel Valley, alongside produce carefully sourced from some of the UK’s best suppliers.
Analjit Singh, The Leeu Collection’s owner remarked: ‘’The teams at Linthwaite House and Henrock by Simon Rogan are thrilled to be able to celebrate their five-year-long partnership and evolution. Both are committed to making sure every guest’s experience is personal and memorable. The continued success and ever-developing relationship is a testament to this dedication and commitment. Unsurprisingly, as a result, Linthwaite House as part of the Leeu Collection and Henrock within Simon’s Lake District restaurant portfolio has successfully nurtured excellent relationships with their guests, welcoming people from all over the world as they stay and dine with us in the iconic surroundings of the English Lake District.’’
Sam Ward, Umbel Restaurant Group’s Managing Director said: ‘’The last five years have flown by, and during that time both Henrock and Linthwaite House have continued to evolve and to grow, becoming firm favourites with hotel guests, local diners as well restaurant and hotel lovers from further afield. Our combined teams work so well together, focused entirely on ensuring that every guest is looked after from the moment they set foot in the hotel and restaurant, to the moment they leave. It’s so gratifying to see what can be achieved when hospitality teams work together in pursuit of the same objective.’’
Celebration package prices start from £555 based on two adults sharing in a Classic double room on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
