Gino D’Acampo’s New Restaurant in Leeds Ticks Every Box

You know that feeling you get when you find a restaurant where every element hits the mark?

That’s the feeling we got when we visited Gino D’Acampo’s new restaurant in Leeds. Welcome – tick. Food – tick. Atmosphere – tick. Service – double tick!

Everyone is watching what they spend and going out for a meal can be a big decision as you don’t want to leave any restaurant feeling disappointed. We guarantee when you leave Gino D’Acampo Leeds, (eventually!), you will feel like that was money well spent.

We settled in with a couple of cocktails while we soaked in the atmosphere, these were the best we have had in a while; ‘If My Grandmother Had Wheels’- Ginato pink grapefruit gin, Aperol, watermelon, raspberries, pink grapefruit and lime. We were off to a brilliant start.

For starters we chose Asparagi – asparagus, poached hen’s egg and pecorino cheese and Brushetta Con Gamberoni – King Prawns, chilli mayonnaise and toasted ciabatta.

Crisp, fresh earthy asparagus with a perfectly poached egg and chunky, sweet and plenty of them on crisp toasted ciabatta. The chilli mayonnaise brought out the flavour of those beautiful prawns.

We took recommendations for our mains; Penne Al Salmone Affumicato – Penne pasta, smoked salmon, cream, courgette, asparagus, toasted pine nuts and lemon. Pollo Ripieno Di Mozzarella – crispy chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella, sun-dried tomato and fresh basil pesto, sharing sides of grilled tenderstem broccoli, butter and pecorino cheese, plus potato fries.

The pasta dish was sublime; summer on a plate. It was delicate, light and extremely morish. The chicken was moist and full of flavour but would have benefited from more of the sauce.

Desserts had to be our favourites (which we shared – again), Panna Cotta – strawberries and amaretti and Affogato – espresso coffee and vanilla ice cream. Creamy, smooth Panna Cotta and fresh, sweet summer strawberries, this is the perfect dessert for a sweet tooth. But if you love that coffee shot to finish a meal, Affogato is the one. Simple yet hits the mark every time with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a shot of espresso poured over. Which one are you?

The wine was a delicious Sauvignon Blanc and it complemented everything we ate.

I’ll finish where I started. This is a restaurant that ticks every box. Gino D’Acampo’s Leeds is a place you find yourself not wanting to leave, in fact four hours later, long after we had finished our meal, we were still sat at our table engaged in fabulous conversation with Gino’s Brand Ambassador, Guiseppe over a glass of Prosecco.

Now that’s Amore!
