Food is not just fuel – innovative health-focused food boxes

Award-winning Clerkenwell restaurant Après Food Co overhauls business model to launch innovative health-focused food boxes.

Food is not just fuel, but a bridge to support immunity, increase energy levels, aid better sleep and overall health and wellbeing. Few shouts that louder than co-founders of pioneering Clerkenwell restaurant Catherine Sharman and Danny Gray, who continue to innovate their wellbeing brand offering. With Covid-19 keeping everyone apart they have pivoted far beyond their London postcode opening up to a nationwide audience with the launch of innovative, health-focused food boxes.

The exciting new launch encompasses two offerings – Specific Health Focused Boxes, and Better Boxes – a range of delicious, nutritionally balanced, restaurant-quality dishes. The meals are specifically designed with health in mind as well as overall body function to create a more holistic and positive connection between the body and the food we fill it with. Each dish has been created in a considered approach by Catherine who leads the brand’s food operation and is an accredited nutritional therapist and chef.

The innovative Specific Health Focused Boxes have been designed to allow customers to understand particular health conditions and provide both a guide and a blueprint for how to approach it from a nutrition perspective – in a delicious and balanced way. Three Health Focused Boxes packed with essential nutrient-rich dishes will launch initially: Immune Function Support Box; Clarity of Mind & Energy Box; and Blissful Sleep Box. Via a search functionality on the website, customers will be given a box that’s most suited to their needs. Each box contains beautifully illustrated guides that will give recipes, overviews, information, tips and advice. The Specific Health Focused Boxes are available as stand-alone products on the site, available to be purchased as a three-day box (£45), five-day box (£72) and a seven day box (£100).

These Specific Health Focused Boxes come under the wider umbrella and variety of Après Food Co. Better Boxes, each designed with three things in mind: taste, convenience and optimum nutrition for peak body function. A carefully curated variety of nourishing flash-frozen meals, puddings and snacks – the whole menu is designed to dovetail into a normal weekly routine, freeing up time and giving confidence and nutritional reassurance in food. Just like on the restaurant menu, processed nasties and unnecessarily refined ingredients are nowhere to be found. All dishes are gluten free and the use of dairy is kept to a minimum. Think dishes like Shakshuka with Garlic Roast Potatoes; American-Style Blueberry Pancakes; Norfolk Chicken Casserole; and 12-Hour slow-cooked Sri Lankan Lamb Curry. Plus, of course, have your cake and eat it too – savour desserts such as the plant-based Rich Chocolate & Raspberry Fudge Cake and energy-boosting snacks like Protein truffles. Customers will have the option to purchase meals individually, or as a ‘pick & mix’ to make their own Better Box.

The Better Boxes (in 100% plant-based home compostable packaging) will be available to purchase via apresfood.com, with minimum order value of £25 and nationwide UK delivery.

Co-founder Danny says: “We’re extremely passionate about offering an accessible approach to healthy eating, it has to be relatable but most importantly achievable. Our meals are first and foremost created to taste unbelievably delicious but also to be healthy and nutritionally good for you.”

Running in conjunction with the launch of the Specific Health Focused Boxes, customers can add-on the opportunity to book one-to-one consultations with Catherine and join exclusive online workshops led by health and wellbeing author, Rachel de Thample.Designed to give further support and guidance, Rachel’s two-hour workshops, costing £40, will take participants through nutrition to aid hydration, balance blood sugar, access more serotonin and guidance on gut health and fats for brain health, packed with delicious, easy recipes customers can make at home.

Catherine says: “Our aim is to empower, inspire and delicately educate as many people as possible. Having a restaurant meant we were limited to daily visitors but with this new launch, we have a much wider scope now that we will be delivering nationwide. We’re excited to provide simple, nutritious and tasty food options for people within the UK.” Après is all about fostering a community and by joining as a Lightbulb Member (£5) customers will gain access to exclusive talks, Q&As, recipes and help test exciting new products before going-live.
