Have you ever dined at Bar + Block? There are over 20 restaurants to choose from across the UK, so we’re sure you’ll find one in a city near to you.
Our writer, Rachel McAlley was invited to Bar + Block Glasgow recently, and it was possibly one of the biggest restaurants she has ever dined in.
I arrived with my family for evening meal at the Glasgow Bar + Block on Howard Street, just a short walk from the city’s Central Train Station. A great location, close to the city centre, with on street parking nearby and local car parks to choose from.
We had travelled from Yorkshire via train earlier that day, were very hungry, and raring to tuck into dinner at Bar + Block!
Bar + Block Food

We entered the restaurant and were greeted by smiles from the bar staff and the front of house team. The bar is the focal point of the restaurant as it’s possible to walk around the entire bar area, where there are plenty of seating options. Moreover, this is the biggest restaurant I think I have ever eaten in anywhere in the UK!
With seemingly endless tables, our server seated us near to the open plan kitchen so that we could watch the chefs prepping and cooking the food. Considering we were dining on a Monday evening, the restaurant was relatively busy, which was great to see, especially in the current financial climate. Moreover, there were families, couples, work colleagues, and big tables taken across the restaurant, resulting in a brilliant atmosphere.
After perusing the menu, we asked for a few recommendations from our server. Furthermore, It was apparent that the she all knew about the specials on offer, the steaks (which Bar + Block are famed for) and she had a really good knowledge of the wines.
Our choices included the Chicken Tacos from the specials Inspired by Mexico menu, which came with chunky guacamole, Pico De Gallo, picked red onion, and Mexican loaded skin on chips. Our youngster chose a simple cheeseburger and fries for her dinner. Furthermore, we ordered a 10oz Rib-Eye hand-cut steak served with samphire and triple-cooked chunky chips. A couple of extra side dishes were added to our order including the Peppercorn Sauce for the steak, House Salad, and Garlic Mushrooms.
Dessert at Bar + Block

After much deliberation we opted for the sharing pudding, which was a Trio of Mini Desserts. This included Triple Chocolate brownie, Lemon Drizzle, Cinnamon Sugar Churros, and Vanilla Ice Cream.
Our overall favourite dish was the Chicken tacos from the special Mexican menu, and the lemon drizzle from the trio of desserts board.
It was a great evening in Bar + Block Glasgow, and I can’t wait to see what their Christmas menu includes throughout December. They even serve breakfast for those who fancy a little morning treat and brunch for mid-morning hunger pangs. The cocktail menu is also a thing to behold, so make sure you check it out.
