Ah! London in the sunshine! Is there anything better? I don’t think so, and I’m always keen to head up to town with my family when the big yellow ball finally shares its warmth with us.
On the day we visited Pivot Bar & Bistro in Covent Garden the area was abuzz! It’s amazing to see London busy again, particularly because it was on a day that the teachers were striking, so everywhere you looked young children were having the time of their lives in this magical location. There’s something very special about Covent Garden – for all ages. From the street performers, to the cute shops and the buzzing, electric atmosphere.

We were thrilled to be invited to Pivot Bar, a fabulous spot for the whole family to enjoy some delicious food and soak up all the action. Especially as they will be offering free kids meals when two or more adults order their award winning Sunday Roasts! Bonus! And great budgeting news for those visiting the capital in the Summer holidays.
Pivot Bar & Bistro is situated over two floors in a historic Georgian townhouse overlooking the iconic Covent Garden piazza. The restaurant is headed up by award-winning chef Mark Greenaway and honours fresh seasonal ingredients focusing on quintessential British cuisine with a Scottish twist.

We dined on the lower floor, where the decor has kept the amazing original features of the old building, creating a very cool setting. You can eat your meal looking out onto that famous area we all know and love – even catching a glimpse of those talented street performers outside.
The menu is packed with classics, such as a Chicken and Hazelnut Terrine, light and creamy White Bean Soup, followed by that fabulous and traditional Roast Chicken or a hearty Roast Beef for mains. For those opting for a meat-free option, then the Roasted Cod Fillet or the seasonal Ratatouille make a perfect choice.

For starters we chose the classic Smoke Salmon which was fresh and simple, just right for a hot day! The other starter was the Chicken and Hazelnut Terrine, which I politely and secretly pinch for myself off my husband’s plate. Light and tasty, with soft sourdough bread, yum!

My son enjoyed the Cured Meat Platter which was washed down with a treat of Diet Coke! My husband and I shared the fantastic Roasted Ham, Eggs and Potato. Don’t be fooled by the simple, old school description – this meal was epic! Falling off the bone ham in a deeply flavoured and rich gravy and perfectly crisp potatoes – what a treat. And perfect with a side of the Summer Green Salad with fresh broccoli and whipped goats cheese.

To finish we tried the Sticky Toffee Pudding – an absolute favourite of mine, especially when it comes with chunks of chewy dates and thick sauce, like this one did. Also ordered was the Chocolate Mousse, which came in the cutest teacup, topped with in-season strawberries. I was enjoying it very much until the boss (my son) wanted it. We left with chocolatey faces and full bellies!

The building is iconic, the service is super friendly. You’ll find the experience fun, the food delicious and the vibe chilled out. Just perfect for yourself, a pre theatre dinner date or a full family affair. There’s something for everyone on the menu and the staff can’t do enough to ensure your visit is a thing of joy!
