Boys Hall; The Gold Bath of Dreams

Did I stay at Boys Hall just because of the gold bathtub…Yes! But what you need to know is Boys Hall has it all! In my quest to find the perfect tub I uncovered this gem!

Boys Hall in Ashford (just five mins from the train station) is a cherished landmark. With its fascinating history dating back to the 17th century, the property offers a tranquil retreat for history and hotel lovers alike!

The Hall has been restored to its former glory (with a few modern touches of course) and boasts a cosy lounge and nine unique rooms as well as a stunning, timber framed restaurant and bar. The attention to detail throughout is quite something with each space filled with plants, ornaments and artwork, not to mention the lit log burning fireplaces all round.

Upon entering my room called Bishops Quarter, classical music played from the bedside radio – these thoughtful touches make your stay here so memorable. I really did feel like royalty staying in this suite which is home to the iconic gold bathtub I had been dreaming about!

The suite overlooks the landscaped gardens and it was the ideal place to unwind and take a breath from busy London life. I marvelled at the ornate woodwork around the fireplace (which originated from Windsor Castle) and the beautifully upholstered and elevated bed, before jumping on it!

The manor is also well known on Kent’s food scene. The buzz of the kitchen fills the ground floor with staff eager to serve your food and hear your thoughts on your selected dishes. The fire burns as you dine for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the bar showcases a good selection of cocktails, wines and spirits. The Coconut Old Fashioned was impressive and I haven’t had another quite one like it.

Dining from the a la carte menu, I ordered (one of) my death row meals! Bone Marrow with Braised Beef and the smoothest jus to start, along with Lamb Cutlets, shallot, cavolo nero, lamb bacon and cream for main course. I forgot all etiquette and licked the plate clean! The meal ended with a glass of English bubbles and slice of Treacle Tart. It was absolute foodie heaven!

Whether you want a relaxing foodie getaway, to host a meeting or attend one of the masterclasses available, Boys Hall is THE best place to escape and stay!
