Visiting York is always a good idea, especially when it involves dining at Côte Brasserie on Low Peter Gate.
If you haven’t been to Côte Brasserie you can expect excellent service, relaxed dining, and a plethora of tasty French dishes. The restaurant showcases seasonal specials menus, with a selection of French and British dishes, all crafted with seasonal ingredients.

The early autumn menu runs until 11th October. The menu includes, Fig & Bayonne Ham Salad with Roquefort dressing, Beetroot and Watercress Croûtes (£7.95) as a starter. There is also the option of starter or main sized Moules Normande with rope grown British mussels (£7.25 and £14.25). Pork Tomahawk for two is served with Pork Belly Croquettes, Herb Potato Purée, Glazed Apples, Roasted Garlic and Calvados Jus (£39.95). The Almond Financier dessert is a served with Blackberry Compote, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Salted Caramel (£7.50).
We opted for the specials Fig & Bayonne Ham starter, Moules Normande main, and Almond Financier dessert. Alongside these dishes we enjoyed bread (£3.25), Crab Maison (£9.75), and Paillard Salad (£12.95) from the regular Côte menu. Our small person devoured the Croque Monsieur with Frites (£6.95 x 2 courses), and the Tomato Salad, Basil and Shallots (£3.75). Dessert was the Chocolate Praline Crêpe served with Caramelised Bananas and Chantilly Crème (£6.95).
Food at Côte

Our personal favourites were the Fig & Ham Salad, the Moules Normande, the Almond Financier, and the Paillard Salad. The delicate dressings on both the Fig starter and the Paillard main course made each dish zing with flavour. Furthermore, the Sautéed Leeks, Organic Normande Cider, Cream and Granny Smith Apple sauce on the Moules was moreishly good. Our small person has requested that the Crêpe receive a huge shout out because “It was full of chocolate praline that melted outside the edges and was the best dessert ever”.
All in all our lunch at Côte Brasserie in York was outstanding, which matched the staff, who couldn’t have been nicer.
