Afternoon Tea on Piccadilly at The Dilly

Nothing screams London like an afternoon spent on Piccadilly. This short stretch of road is the epitome of refined Mayfair living. If you love classic luxury, historic buildings and elegance at every turn then this is the part of London Town for you.

On your way to have Afternoon Tea at The Dilly, you can stroll down the stunning Burlington Arcade and pick up some delicate Larudee Macarons. Then mooch on to Fortnum and Mason’s to marvel at the stunning interiors and wonder just how much it would be to do your weekly food shop here! Every building houses a treasure on Piccadilly from Maison Assouline’s coveted coffee table books to Caviar House, it has it all.

It’s a fantasy land that always makes me wonder back to the gentry that would have shopped in these ornate buildings. I am sure those very same ladies would have stopped for a spot of Afternoon Tea once they were tired of shopping.

We followed in their footsteps and found ourselves on the delightful Terrace at The Dilly. An epic 5-star hotel moment from Piccadilly Circus. The hotel is currently serving a London Afternoon Tea for £49 per person from 12.30 until 3 pm daily.

This would make a great addition to a family London day out as once you have seen the sights, you get to eat them. The London Afternoon Tea includes Crown Jewel inspired cake, an unctuous black forest cake that you won’t be able to resist, a London Eye mud cake which was one of the best brownies I have ever eaten and a Hazelnut Praline Big Ben complete with gold gilding.

The London Afternoon Tea is presented in an iconic red London bus along with fun, contemporary crockery depicting a cartoon map of London. The overall effect is fun, and children would adore it. The Dilly do cater for little people with a Children’s Afternoon Tea menu for £39. They also have Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options.

For the adults that are in need of bubbles after a day’s shopping or sightseeing, there is a pairing suggesting of a Pommery Louis English sparkling wine, neatly staying on the patriotic trend. You can also order cocktails from the Terrace Bar. We obviously opted for the bubbles and had a lovely afternoon people watching over Piccadilly. The Terrace also has an outdoor area which would be delightful on a sunny day.
