A Sunday Roast with an Asia Twist

A couple of weeks ago we sent Sarah of Coxys Kitchen to try Bar Soba Leeds’ new Sunday roast offering and what an offering it was! Here’s her review.

I don’t know about you, but personally I think it’s hard to find a decent Sunday roast, but this was truly up there as one of the best, all delivered with an Asian twist too.

Bar Soba is better known for its Asian-fusion street food, fantastic cocktails and bustling vibe. However, the introduction of Sunday roast dinners, infused with Asian flavours is nothing short of genius.

My guest and I both opted for the roast beef which came with a giant Yorkshire pudding, perfectly crispy roast potatoes, miso carrots, red cabbage, tenderstem broccoli, pak choi scattered with black sesame seeds and a jug of extra gravy [that you didn’t have to ask for], all delicately balanced with Asian spices.

Sunday roast

Our sides were honey glazed pigs in blankets and gochujang cauliflower cheese…delicious!

I don’t have a sweet tooth, so I wouldn’t have ordered one, but we were given not one, not two, but three desserts to sample and I think maybe I’m a dessert convert. Passion fruit and white chocolate crème brûlée, raspberry chocolate torte and four different types of Japanese mochi balls. In keeping with the theme, all three desserts came with their Asian twist, but what sold it for me was that they were all on the right side of sweet; not too sweet or sickly.

Now let me tell me about the Bloody Mary’s… A Bloody Mary laced with Thai flavours is the bomb, I could have bathed in the stuff!

So, if you want an alternative Sunday roast, with a slight deviation from the traditional in the best way possible, then Bar Soba Leeds is where you need to be.

Throughout February Bar Soba are offering 10% off their Sunday roast with the code ROAST10. Get your table booked now, because Sunday’s at ‘Soba are gonna be busy!
