Is there any better time to visit the seaside than when the UK is experiencing a mini heatwave? You can stroll along the beach front, play in the slot machines, and enjoy plenty of ice cream and gelato to your hearts content.
We sent our writer, Rachel McAlley to Scarborough’s North Bay to Creams Café to sample the newest addition to their summer menu. The Pavlova Puffs! They are the biggest, most humongous dessert you are going to indulge in this summer.
Did we share or did we try one of each flavour (there are two on the menu)? I bet you can guess that we tried both flavours! Okay, so we’re not exaggerating when we said they are humongous, these pavlovas are absolutely huge and can easily be shared by two people.
When we arrived, Creams Café was bustling with holidaymakers and day-trippers. All were enjoying desserts outside the café in the sunshine. We could see plenty of ice cream cones, tubs filled with gelato, and boxes bursting with waffles, crêpes, and meringues.
Once inside we found a table and perused the menu before ordering lots of delicious treats. We started with Popcorn Chicken Waffle Bites with BBQ sauce, absolutely moreish is the only way to describe these beauties. Chicken breast coated in southern fried crumb, encased in waffle batter, heated and served with a large pot of BBQ sauce.

Alongside the waffles (which we shared by the way) we enjoyed a Frozen Raspberry and Strawberry Daquiri Mocktail, served with a strawberry on the side. This is such a refreshing drink which was much needed in the heat of the day.
The staff were eager to help with any queries we had about the menu, which was great because I wanted to know more about the summer specials.
The Pavlova Puffs

The new summer specials were Pavlova Puffs. We ordered the Summer Berry Pavlova Puff, which consisted of huge raspberry meringue filled with soft serve and drizzled with raspberry coulis, white chocolate sauce, and white chocolate shavings. Plus, lots of fresh strawberries on the side with a dusting of raspberry powder to finish.
The second special was a Chocolate Honeycomb Pavlova Puff, made with another huge chocolate meringue filled with soft serve. This one was drizzled with chocolate crisp sauce, toffee sauce, and topped with crushed honeycomb and milk chocolate shavings. Again, finished with a dusting of cocoa powder.

Our final order was to take-out, a hot chocolate as the sun had disappeared, and a Berry Smoothie Pot to take on the seafront.
We left feeling extremely full, but hugely happy that the Creams Café experience was as fabulous as ever. The new Pavlova Puffs are priced at £8.95 each and are made for two! Moreover, Mocktails are priced at £5.25 each, Chicken Waffles £5.95, Smoothie Pots £4.95 each.
Visit Creams Café to find your nearest store, there are 100 locations choose from.
