The Cher Show Turns Back Time

Picture this, a rainy Tuesday autumn night in Bradford made to come alive and ‘turn back time’ with the absolutely fabulous new musical, ‘The Cher Show’.

The name speaks for itself, the life, and times of (in my eyes the world’s biggest loveable diva) Cher. I can confirm that I will be singing big hearted Cher anthems for the foreseeable. I have heard Cher songs all my life, but after seeing the production tonight and actually listening to the lyrics of the songs, they have hit my heart and have whole new meaning to me thanks to The Cher Show.

The story is told through life and the times of Cher’s career. The superstar is played by three different fantastic actresses, each of the three ladies were amazing I was in absolute awe. Millie O’Connell is the insecure and loveable ‘Babe’, the powerhouse talent Danielle Steers is ‘Lady’, (Cher in her television heyday), and Samantha Ivey stepped in to play ‘Star’ the full epitome of Cher bold as brass, a woman who has learned lessons from life.

Although the actors represent Cher at different points in her life, on stage they work together as a chorus articulating Cher’s thoughts and motivations and together, they celebrate every life triumph, good, bad, ugly and all the ups and downs, all are portrayed perfectly through the show.

I walked away finding a newfound love for Cher and respect for the life and career she has had. She’s a goddess, a woman, a warrior!

The Cher Show

Song after song was a hit and had everyone singing along. The Sonny and Cher classic ‘I Got You Babe’ was a crowd favourite finished by Cher’s biggest hit which the crowd had been anticipating from the start ‘Believe’, which had the whole theatre up dancing.

The sets were amazing, the wigs and costume changes were fabulous, and I’m going to say this again, I was absolutely amazed by the three actresses playing Cher. If you closed your eyes, you could swear blind Cher herself was up front and centre of the stage belting out the ballads.

If I can give you one tip it is to head to Bradford over the next couple of days and watch ‘The Cher Show’.

The Cher Show is playing at the Alhambra Theatre Bradford until Saturday 30th October and is unmissable – don’t wait to turn back time!
