Saturday Night Fever is a Hot Show

I had the absolute pleasure of going along to see ‘Saturday Night Fever’ at The Alhambra Theatre in Bradford recently and I was in absolute awe of the story. I must be one of the few people in the world who had never seen the movie, I should be ashamed! The acting and the music were fantastic and the talent on stage was spectacular, wow what an evening, I’m going to be singing the songs in my sleep and making me wish I could dance!

From the 70’s dance classic, BKL Productions have brought a fantastic rendition of the hit movie ‘Saturday Night Fever’ to the stage, and it’s stunning. From the fabulous dancing and all the mega hits to following the story in the film down to a tee, this was a slick production where slender hipped Jack Wilcox took on the role of dance superstar Tony Manero and had the crowd drooling with his moves, good looks and acting, he definitely stole the show and everyone loved him.

The fabulous Becky Bryant took the lead as Stephanie Mangano, and the show stealer for me most definitely had to be the live onstage ‘Bee Gees’. If you closed your eyes, you would swear blind the actual brothers were personally in the room serenading the audience with hits like ‘ Night Fever’ and ‘How Deep Is Your Love’. I loved all the classic soundtrack songs, as did the audience who were loudly singing along.

The acting, singing and overall talent had me hooked, I didn’t want the show to end. I can safely say I will be singing the soundtrack and toe tapping the songs for the foreseeable. A massive ‘bravo’ to the full cast, dancers, band and crew, you really brought the house down with this show.

I think I need to watch John Travolta now in the movie  and see how it compares.

If you are looking for a bright light, heart-warming, feelgood night out, I highly recommend catching a performance of ‘Saturday Night Fever’ touring at the UK.
