If you have not heard of ‘The Traitors’ TV series – where have you been? If you have not watched it – binge on catch up! This is the TV series that has had everyone in the country gripped and talking about the brilliant format and phenomenal characters.
We caught up with everyone’s favourite; Theo Mayne. We have known Theo for some time so reached out to our readers and followers for questions. What did you want to know about Theo, the programme and the other people in ‘The Traitors’? It’s all here, read on.
When did you first realise you wanted to be on TV?

Since a young child I always wanted to be a performer, to entertain and make people smile and laugh, but I didn’t know how to become an entertainer so started off at an amateur dance group where I found my feet. Quite literally I moved on to amateur dramatics and musical theatre which I fell in love with, especially performing on stage. I have done numerous productions right up to present day, but I wanted more from life and decided to apply for TV shows. My first one being Blankety Blank Christmas Special, where I made it all the way to the end but flaked on the last question.
I then was a lunch mate on Steph’s Packed Lunch but I knew I wanted more out of the TV lifestyle so I applied for The Traitors not fully knowing what it could bring to my life, I just knew I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and push myself even further and follow my passion for entertaining and being a role model for athletes out there, especially as I am a coach and own All Star cheerleading business.
How did you find out about The Traitors and how did you get onto the programme?
I literally just searched for TV shows to be on, and The Traitors seemed like an exciting concept therefore I applied and had my fingers crossed,
Where in Scotland was the castle and did you all stay there or really go somewhere else each night?
The castle was located in Inverness in a valley which was very remote but had astounding views and at the end of the night we went to our individual lodgings.
You were also a regular on Steph’s Packed Lunch, how did you get on there and will you be going back?
I was scouted for Steph’s Packed Lunch and only filmed four episodes with them, two of which I had a live speaking part, but I was shipped off to Scotland to film The Traitors.
I would like to go back, but I feel like I would want to have more of a role as I want to get more diversity on TV, especially as I myself am a multicultural, gay, Yorkshire cheerleading coach. There is not enough representation.
How did you get into cheerleading, and do you still have time to train your troupe or is your career now going in a different direction?

I got into cheerleading through a woman I used to work with who took me along to a session, I immediately fell in love with the sport. I couldn’t believe my eyes as cheerleading is a sport consisting of dance, tumbling, acrobatics, stunts and so much more.
I have run my own cheerleading club MAYNE ALLSTARS for over five years, and it continues to grow each month. it’s my dream to have my own unit to be able to run more classes and help more people through sports. It’s also my dream to have a documentary series following cheerleading and what brilliant opportunities it can bring to those within… watch this space!
Do you want to have a full-time career in TV?
I would love a full-time career on TV, it’s my passion to become a TV presenter/personality and entertainer. To show that you can come from any background and be successful, there are not enough multicultural, gay, Yorkshire people on TV and I want to be that beacon of light and make people smile and help someone through a tough day.
I feel TV has the same people on these days and it’s about time we switched it up and put some fresh faces on there. We don’t have enough Yorkshire representation.
I also sing, dance and act, therefore feel like I could be a brilliant entertainer and one day hopefully step foot on the Royal Variety Show and perform in front of the Royal Family. But most of all make my mum and sister proud.
How can I apply to be on programmes?
The best way you can apply for shows is literally just Google a TV channel type in ‘apply’ and it will come up with a list of shows they have upcoming throughout the year, it’s simply like applying for a job
Who did you bond with the most in The Traitors?

I bonded with everybody in there as everybody is unique and there were no two people the same. I’m very close with Claire who was sadly taken too soon from the programme, I’m also really close to Matt and Aaron as I’m like an older brother to them, which I wouldn’t change, honestly, they’re all fantastic people and I love them all, they all have their own fantastic unique qualities and I’m glad to be a friend to all 21 of them.
How did Amanda react to you after stabbing you in the back? You seemed really close, is she forgiven?
I was very close to Amanda on camera and off, but I always had to remind myself it was a game, and she played a phenomenal one – until she made that fatal error of voting for me on the round table. I’m a massive believer in karma and I feel like she had her comeuppance on episode 10 when she was banished as well. I always separate the contestants from the game and talk to Amanda regularly she’s a phenomenal woman.
It was extremely emotional, would you do it again? Bet you felt drained when you came out
It was an extremely emotional and intense environment but I’m proud I did it and I feel more confident in myself and 100% feel I could tackle any challenge that the universe wants to throw at me. I would happily go back in tomorrow if I was given the opportunity.
How did Claudia react off camera when you were voted out? She seemed upset.
Claudia was totally invested in the game and she said she felt like I was her son. She would always comfort everyone off camera, especially on my banishment when the cameras stopped rolling. Claudia hugged me and said in my ear “Everything will be OK”. They couldn’t have picked a better host she’s a phenomenal woman who’s very heartwarming and would do anything for anyone.
When each person was voted out did they have to go home immediately?
When we were voted out we would leave the castle and head to our individual lodgings.
Who have you stayed in touch with?
We have all stayed in contact we actually have a WhatsApp group that we are all in it. We support each other day in and day out with whatever we are up to in the real world
Would you do it again knowing what you do now, and would you do anything differently?
If I was given the opportunity to do like an All Stars Traitors I would 110% go back in and I don’t think I would change anything as I was 100% authentically myself in the game, which worked quite well for me until I led the round table on episode 9 which backfired and ended with my banishment.
What’s next?
I am a hard-working motivated person who will always reach for the stars. I would love to be a TV presenter/ Personality and entertainer, that is my ultimate dream as all I want to do is make people laugh and smile and fill their hearts with joy. I will be pushing cheerleading to show people how phenomenal the sport is and what brilliant opportunities it offers youngsters. You will definitely see a lot more of me on your TV. As one door closes, another opens and it’s now time to become a ‘northern king’!
