Eden Camp has unveiled an all-new event for this year’s event programme. The Modern Military Weekend on 6th and 7th June will offer visitors a hands-on exploration of post-WWII conflicts and the evolution of armed forces through the second half of the 20th century.
The event at Eden Camp invites history enthusiasts and families to immerse themselves in a journey through modern military history across live re-enactments, fascinating talks by veterans, and interactive exhibits. Curious visitors will be able to gain a deeper understanding of how the military has adapted to the challenges of modern warfare.
Throughout the weekend there will be engaging presentations and real-world accounts from historians and veterans including:
- The Falklands War (1982) – Understand the strategic challenges and military tactics used in the high-stakes conflict between Britain and Argentina.
- Small Arms Talks – View a selection of modern day weapons and see how they have evolved.
- Post-Cold War Military Operations – Gain insight into how armed forces have responded to new global threats, peacekeeping missions, and modern combat scenarios.

There will also be the opportunity to see an exclusive display of post-war military vehicles, giving the chance to see how military transport, armoured units, and support vehicles have evolved.
Nick Hill, Museum Manager at Eden Camp, said: “We’re really excited to introduce the Modern Military Weekend to our events line-up, giving visitors the means to explore the evolution of modern warfare through live re-enactments, veteran talks and military vehicle displays. We hope it will be an informative and engaging experience for history fanatics and families alike.”
Visitors can also explore 22 immersive huts, each bringing wartime Britain to life through interactive exhibits. After discovering the museum’s rich history, families can relax and enjoy a selection of meals and snacks at the family-friendly café. To complete the experience, the gift shop offers a range of unique souvenirs and keepsakes, allowing guests to take home a piece of history.
