THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED. Won by Janice Docherty from the Paisley

Jana Reinhardt is a husband-and-wife team: Jana Reinhardt and Ross Cutting – both master-goldsmiths who are as passionate about hand making jewellery, as they are about animal welfare and green living.

In the last year, Jana Reinhardt has created several exclusive pieces intended to raise awareness and funds for charities which help drought affected countries in Africa (International Tree Foundation), Greenpeace, and orangutans (OVAID), among others. They have also established partnerships with charities including NAWT and PETA . Their aim is to create a piece every month to benefit an environmental or animal welfare charity.

They don’t use machine manufacture, preferring the old techniques of wax carving and fabrication to create their products. These traditional methods have no negative effect on the environment, making Jana Reinhardt a more sustainable choice for jewellery lovers. All precious metals used by Jana Reinhardt are from accredited suppliers, based in the UK and Germany, that continually buy back and recycle scrap metal, thus helping to create more environmentally friendly jewellery.

Hummingbirds are believed to represent strength of being and resilience, something we all need at the moment!  It’s a beautiful necklace that is subtle and classic enough to be worn every day, as a little reminder to hang on in there, whatever challenges you face.
