Our writer, Rachel McAlley visited a newly rebranded hairdressing salon in York, now called Cabelo Adore. Previously part of a chain across the UK, director Jessica Graville took over the lease and has revamped and rebranded as an independent salon in the city centre.
Cabelo Adore reopened in May 2023 and has a new look that is both warm in colour-tones and cosy in its feel. Jessica has a team of six that work directly under her in the salon, and she also has a faithful customer-base who return regularly to enjoy having their hair styled.

I was invited to have a cut, colour, and style with Jessica and to experience the new-look salon in the heart of York. I was asked to visit the salon 48-hours prior to having my hair coloured for a patch test. It took less than 5 minutes from entering Cabelo Adore to leaving after having a patch test.
Returning at a later date for my appointment I was greeted with smiles and friendly faces at the salon. Jessica was there to meet me and talk through my hair issues. She immediately knew that I needed my split ends removing, and a deep treatment to help with my hair follicles. Furthermore, one of the team took my coat, sat me down, and popped me in a gown, ready for my appointment.

We discussed colours, and I opted for blonde highlights, to run through my hair in a balayage style. Jessica suggested that I have some layers to remove some of the heaviness of my hair, which was a great idea.
Each and every customer is offered a drink, whether a hot drink, soft drink, or a glass of Prosecco. I opted for a glass of water as I had a hot drink with me from a local café.
Once in the chair Jessica got to work with highlighting my hair, and after a while I was popped under a heater, then it was time to have my hair washed. I strolled through the salon to the back room, where all of the sinks are located and sat in a chair. A towel was placed around my neck and I laid back into the sink for my hair to be washed. Moreover, I had a Fusio-Dose Treatment, which helps to reduce damage to the surface of the hair, plus it also invigorates the scalp.

After a wonderful head massage, which is offered to every customer at no extra charge, I went back into the main salon for Jessica to cut and style my hair.
Equally, the team at Cabelo Adore use only the best products, including Kerastase, L’oreal, Redken and GHD. Whilst there I spotted walk-in customers visit the salon to buy product, which I like to see. This means that the salon are stocking exactly what the consumer wants.
It didn’t take Jessica long to make me look and feel fabulous. I couldn’t have been happier with the end result. My new blonde, balayage hair looked amazing.
January and early February are great times to visit Cabelo Adore as the team of stylists have an excellent winter offer for customers. Firstly, 30% off colour with a full price cut, or secondly, 20% off a cut and blow dry. Furthermore, the offer is valid until 15th February, perfect timing for anyone wanting to book in before Valentine’s Day. Simply mention the winter offer at time of payment to redeem the discount. Moreover, this is not valid in conjunction with any other offers or loyalty points.
Plus, as an added incentive, any customer who books in for their birthday will receive a complimentary treatment worth £20. Equally, this offer can only be taken within the customer’s birthday month (proof of date of birth may be required).
