Less than a year since opening, Saltmoore, the luxurious wellness and nature-led retreat in Sandsend near Whitby, has been officially added to the MICHELIN Guide as a new entry, highlighting its dining offering The Brasserie at Saltmoore under “new restaurants” in the North Yorkshire section.
The MICHELIN Guide highlights Saltmoore as a serene, wellness-led retreat offering refined hospitality and dining. The Brasserie, its on-site restaurant, is praised for its chic modern interiors – green walls, seersucker upholstery, and marble café-style tables – and its confident take on British classics. Dishes like prime grilled meats, pure Whitby crab tartlets, and heather honey crème brûlée from the North York Moors showcase a deep connection to seasonal and local produce. The service team, noted for their warmth and knowledge, guides guests through a menu with a distinctly British heart.

At the same time, the hotel itself is recognised for its sophisticated design, connection to the surrounding coastline and woodlands, and its immersive spa and wellness experience. With 72 thoughtfully appointed rooms and a focus on natural materials and calming aesthetics, Saltmoore is now among the MICHELIN Guide’s top recommended places to stay in North Yorkshire.

“We’re incredibly proud to see Saltmoore recognised by the MICHELIN Guide,” says Brian Van Oosten, General Manager of Saltmoore. “This honour reflects the vision and hard work of our entire team – from our chefs and hospitality staff to our spa and design partners. We set out to create a place where people can reconnect with nature, nourish themselves, and feel completely looked after – and this recognition tells us we’re on the right path.”
