Our recent visit to London included a stay at possibly the coolest hotel ever! The Cumberland Hotel, London Marble Arch, draws inspiration from the capital’s love of music, with a glorious fusion of comfort and service.
In a prime position just off Oxford Street, yet just yards from the expansive green space of Hyde Park and Marble Arch, we think we have found another perfect base for your London visit, especially if you love music and pop culture. With 1019 rooms, bars, a restaurant and all-modern, accessible facilities, The Cumberland is a great destination for leisure and business travellers. It’s definitely the coolest hotel in London.

You’ll be close to famous shopping districts, museums and historic landmarks, while Marble Arch London Underground station is just around the corner, it made exploring the city so easy for us. We also wanted to jump on and off one of the big red open top buses, which were all situated across the road from the hotel, superb convenience.
But let’s talk you through our two night stay at The Cumberland. The wow factor starts as you enter; this hotel is BIG! It used to be the Hard Rock London and your senses are immediately hit by rock memorabilia; Jimi Hendrix, Diana Ross, Bob Dylan – the list is endless.

There are huge screens everywhere silently playing various artists, but the fact that you can’t hear the music doesn’t detract from the excitement as the enormous reception area is buzzing with guests, some checking in, some checking out and others just taking it all in. The atmosphere is electric and we loved the energy.

What we didn’t know was that when you book certain superior rooms, hidden round a corner is a VIP check in room called the Backstage Lounge, and here away from the hustle and bustle you can be checked in like a celebrity with a glass of champagne, beer, gin and tonic, soft drink – in fact whatever you want. In this secret lounge, you are invited to partake of complimentary drinks, lunch, afternoon tea and all manner of refreshments, all included in your superior room package.
After being checked in at your leisure, your luggage is taken to your room which you are personally escorted to when you are ready, and shown around the facilities. We were staying in a Studio Suite and so had access to all of the above! What an experience this was turning out to be.

Like us you can channel your inner rockstar in a spacious king room, which comes complete with a lounge area, electric guitar and Marshall amp, turntable record player, complete with a selection of LP’s and a complimentary minibar which is restocked as required! Access all areas with the VIP benefits of Back Stage and really feel like a rockstar. This was an amazing experience and as we were staying for two nights, we took full advantage of all of these benefits.
But that’s not all; thank goodness for the air con, the weather outside was boiling hot. The complimentary minibar also came in useful for refreshing cold beers and water on tap! Yes water…it was the hottest day of the year after all!

During our stay we enjoyed live music, which they have seven days a week, delicious food in the Sound Café where we enjoyed pasta, burgers and pizza meals surrounded by iconic musical memorabilia in a space where legends of music once came to play. And just when we thought The Cumberland couldn’t get any cooler, we spotted the robot waiters wandering around clearing plates!

We had the most exciting, memorable stay and really can’t wait to go back. We loved everything about this hotel, there’s something to keep you entertained no matter what age. Great service and food, exciting atmosphere, superb location and cool beyond belief.
So, channel your musical passion and book your place at the coolest hotel show in town.
