Don’t you sometimes wish you could turn back time and age backwards? But it seems that no matter what we do, there is no escaping it: we are getting older, and worst of all, it shows! And it is most evident in our skin. As we age, our skin goes through several changes, including the decreased production of collagen and a decline in the skin’s elasticity. With these changes, we can experience the formation of wrinkles, age spots, and fine lines.
But you don’t have to fret just yet – you can still take proper care of your skin, and doing this can help you maintain a healthy and youthful appearance, regardless of your age. Besides, there are other, non-invasive treatments you can take advantage of, such as the popular anti-wrinkle treatment, which makes you look younger instantly (and most people swear by it). But you can still do your best for your skin by following a few guidelines. What are these guidelines? Read on to find out.
Protect it from the sun!

As far as advice goes, this is perhaps the most important one: protect it from the sun! Too much exposure to the sun’s UV rays can result in wrinkles and age spots – and even skin cancer. To protect your and take care of your skin, always wear sunscreen (with an SPF of at least 30) when you go out, even if the day is cloudy. Also, wear protective clothing (such as hats and long-sleeved shirts) and stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day. Prolonged exposure to the sun can result in severe skin damage, leading to various health issues, including the need for skin cancer removal treatment.
Moisturise

This is the second-best rule: moisturise. As we age, our skin becomes drier and loses some of its natural moisture, which can lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Keep your skin hydrated with a moisturiser and vegan collagen, and look for one that is specifically formulated for your skin type (whether it’s dry, oily, or combination skin). Don’t forget to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out!
Use the gentlest cleansers

As we age, we begin to get more delicate skin, so using the gentlest cleansers that won’t strip away your skin’s natural oils is crucial. Better yet, choose a cleanser specifically designed for your skin type that doesn’t contain harsh fragrances or chemicals. Avoid using hot water when washing your face, as it can cause your skin to become irritated and dry out.
Get some good shut-eye

Getting enough rest is essential for your overall wellness, but it’s also essential for your skin’s health. Whenever you sleep, your body produces collagen, and when you lack sleep, this can cause eye bags and dark circles – and dull, tired-looking skin. Getting a minimum of 7 – 8 hours of sleep a night is an important part of taking care of your skin.
Eat a healthy, nutritious diet

Eating a healthy and nutritious diet is crucial – you need to eat well to lose weight or maintain your weight, of course, but it’s also essential for your skin. A diet rich in fruits, lean proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats (such as nuts and legumes) can help keep your skin youthful and healthy. In addition, these foods contain essential vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that can protect your skin from damage and keep it looking radiant.
