It just so happens to be Shrove Tuesday when I make my way to Crêpeaffaire at the Hippodrome in Leicester Square.
It was a total coincidence but I wasn’t going to complain! Especially as they serve the most delicious sweet and savoury crêpes throughout the year. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner and situated in the heart of theatre land – it’s a great place to pause your sightseeing and pop in for a tasty treat. Perhaps you are about to catch a show and need a quick but satisfying meal or snack before you go? This establishment couldn’t be more perfect for that.
If you’re not a lover of pancakes but your companion is, there’s plenty more on the menu to tempt you. Including all day breakfast, pastries and excellent coffee! So there is no excuse not to drop in and try something delicious in the heart of Leicester Square.
As it was indeed the best day to have a pancake I chose the popular Oreo Cookie crêpe with Belgian chocolate, whipped cream and of course a crumble of those famous cookies. This is not a place to count the calories! Dig in and enjoy, life is too short. And the crêpes are TOO delightful!
If you feel in a savoury mood there are tons of choice on offer. Everything from Le Goat Deluxe with red onion, goat’s cheese and spinach to the mouthwatering Hunters Chicken, sprinkled with tangy cheddar. Of course there are vegetarian choices, the fabulous Avocado Superveg and Pesto Formagio. If I’d had room I’d have tried the Ultimate Ham & Cheese. A classic!
Each crêpe is created freshly at the counter, each plate designed to make the most of the ingredients. Who knew Oreo crumble was so pretty and so moorish! It’s a great place to take the kids as the excitement of watching your crêpe being created in front of you, combined with the promise of a sweet or savoury pancakes is just the ticket.
Also on offer are the most decadent milkshakes which come as non-alcoholic or very naughty with Baileys or rum. I was pleased to see vegan options on most of the items on the menu, including these shakes.
This is one not to miss and to add to your London experience. Especially if you are taking small mouths to feed! With your crêpes, don’t forget to grab an ice cream sundae, it would be rude not too, you can restart the diet tomorrow!

We had a Pancake Home Delivery from Crêpeaffaire and were blown away by the contents and how easy they were to make. There was a large sachet of Luxury Pancake Mix and so many individual toppings to choose, we had a feast! What a great concept – and totally delicious!
