With 2021 being the year of the staycation, many people are considering where to go and what to do with their freedom. Stay In Cornwall highlight five of the top things to do in Cornwall where you can enjoy a holiday full of fun.
Below, Laura Mackenzie, Senior Brand Communications Executive at Stay In Cornwall, uncovers 10 of the best things to do in Cornwall for 2021 breaks.
1. Go surfing in Newquay

North Cornwall is world-famous for its incredible surf. Visit Newquay for some of the most epic waves in the UK. Newquay is a surfers paradise with plenty of surf shops, stores to hire wetsuits and places to get a surfing lesson. The relaxed surfer vibe of this coastal town makes for a fantastically relaxed holiday by the sea. If you are planning on surfing when on holiday in Cornwall, it is likely that you will want somewhere to rest your head after an adrenaline-filled day. There are plenty of Cornish cottages by the sea that are a home away from home and you can book to stay in on your trip.
2. Find King Arthur at Tintagel Castle

A legendary Cornish haunt and an oh-so-romantic setting; go explore Tintagel and the ruins of Tintagel Castel, a medieval fortification perched on the top of a cliff right on the coast. Venture down to the beach together and visit Merlin’s Cave, believed to have once been home to the famous wizard himself!
3. Pop to see Doc Martin in Port Isaac

The crew behind the comedy series Doc Martin chose quaint Port Isaac for a very good reason – because it is stunningly beautiful of course! A stunning location for TV, this characterful coastal town makes for a lovely day out, weekend break or longer! Visit Port Isaac for beaches, attractions and a true taste of Kernow.
4. Spend an educational day at the Eden Project

You can’t miss out on a visit to the Eden Project while in Cornwall! Discover the exotic plant life that flourishes in the iconic domes, peer down at the rainforest from the canopy walkway and soar over the grounds on the zipline.
5. Visit St Michael’s Mount

The best viewpoint of this magnificent island castle is from Marazion beach. Take a few memories then head out across the causeway, the popular on-foot way to reach the island during low tide. The causeway is submerged at high tide but a boat can transport you there and back. Explore the castle, garden and harbour of this scenic attraction.
6. Explore the art at Tate St Ives

Explore the unique architecture of the Tate St Ives and marvel at the work of artists such as Van Gogh, L. S. Lowry and Claudette Johnson in the Tate Gallery. Stroll around the seaside town of St Ives for even more beautiful sights!
7. Watch a play at the Minack Theatre

What looks like an ancient Roman amphitheatre but carved from rock much sooner than that, this ‘living theatre’ provides a unique venue where you can watch a play in front of the breathtaking backdrop of the beautiful blue ocean.
8. Have a photo taken at the Land’s End signpost

Freeze time and have your photo taken showing the distance to your hometown at the Land’s End signpost. Located at the most westerly point of mainland Great Britain, a photo here makes for an unforgettable natural setting made famous by celebs making their way from here to its Scottish counterpart, John-O-Groats.
9. Take a walk along South West Coast Path

This path runs around the entire South West but the walk between Kynance Cove and Lizard Point is particularly breathtaking. Stroll past scenic beaches, the old lighthouse and the unusual Lion’s Den hole in the ground.
10. Enjoy a cream tea the Cornish way

When in Cornwall, spread your scone with the jam first then a dollop of cream on top for a delicious treat. You can get a huge variety of scones throughout Cornwall from fruit and caramel to cheesy scones for a savoury twist.
