First of all, the name is self-explanatory and a stroke of genius, Lisa Gair is a ‘Yank’ living in the UK since 1997 and she makes and sells the yummiest cakes and desserts you have ever tasted! EASY!
However, the meaning of the name is twofold, the other being dear to Lisa’s heart. Her father’s nickname was Yummy and his twin brother, Lisa’s uncle’s nickname was Yankee. Lisa can’t think of a better tribute to their memories than to have a business named after them, especially a business that brings smiles to so many, just as they both did.
“My father, along with my mom, friends, my daughters, other family members and even old time and contemporary chefs, helped to mould me into the cook and baker that I have become. They were and are my inspiration. They began the journey for me and gave The Yummy Yank true meaning.
We bake classics such as rich American style brownies and bars/traybakes in over 14 different varieties. We also make a selection of layer cakes and our signature cake/cheesecake combinations. Most of our layer cake flavours can also be made into loaf cakes, a perfect size for when you want that little treat.”

Brownies and Bars
They start from classic American recipes, then Lisa adds her own unique twist, bringing tradition and deliciousness into every single one.
Quality and flavour are of the utmost importance to Lisa and never does she compromise on either.
Her brownies are BIG! They weigh between 120-160gms,
All brownies freeze, wrapped in foil, for 3 months and will stay perfect kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks – well wrapped. Out of the fridge, well wrapped they will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Lisa has taken all the best parts of a brownie, added extra deliciousness – and her signature snap – to create your new favourite treat.

As with all Yummy Yank products, Brownie Snaps are made with nothing but the finest quality ingredients, making them a rich, flavourful treat.
Brownie Snaps come in three delicious flavours – Original – All Chocolate, Chocolate – With A Hint of Orange and Chocolate – With A Hint of Mint. They come in 100g, 100% recyclable drums and have a 9-month shelf life.
Here at H&N Magazine we were lucky enough to try Lisa’s Brownie Snaps and let’s face it – they didn’t last 9 minutes!
Loaf Cake
Layer cakes and sheet cakes are wonderful and perfect for birthdays, parties and weddings, but sometimes you just don’t need a large cake. However, you do want cake! A slice of heavenly, moist and flavoursome cake. A cake that is just enough to have a slice with your family after a meal or in the afternoon with a friend and a cup of tea or coffee.
That’s why Lisa began baking loaf cakes. Just the right size for you to be able to enjoy several varieties of her layer cakes without worrying about too many leftovers. They are baked in recyclable 1-pound trays and are perfect when you feel the need for a little indulgence.
All loaf cakes freeze, wrapped in foil, for three months. They can be kept in the fridge, well wrapped, for 2-3 weeks. Bring to room temperature for best flavour.
Cakes and Cheesecakes
Growing up in Maryland which is only 200 miles south of New York, influenced and shaped Lisa’s recipes for authentic New York Cheesecakes – from the standard cheesecake to wonderfully unique flavours.
Authentically American, Lisa has taken traditional recipes from across the states and put The Yummy Yank’s twist on every one.
Lisa’s signature Cake/Cheesecake combination cakes are a sight to behold and a treat for your tastebuds.
Lisa told us, “Sadly, we cannot send our layer cakes or cheesecakes through the post. They’d be delicious in any condition, but we do want you to appreciate them in all their glory. The only crumbs we want you eating are the ones left over on your plate after a perfect slice.
