The Steam Dreams Rail Co., provider of nostalgic and unforgettable steam train journeys, has unveiled its collection of spectacular day trips for its Spring and Summer 2027 season, taking passengers on luxurious steam-hauled adventures to some of Britain’s most historic cities and beautiful coastal destinations.
The 2027 luxury rail travel collection will see passengers steam-hauled by historic locomotives across the country to destinations including Bath, Chester, Portsmouth, Paignton and Kingswear, with departures from East Anglia, Kent, Essex, Surrey, West Sussex and London. The programme also includes the return of the popular Spirit of Summer Lunch and Sunset Steam Express circular journeys which depart from London Paddington and travel through the picturesque Chiltern Hills.
Combining the glamour of luxury rail travel with some of Britain’s most beautiful scenery, each journey is designed to make the experience on board every bit as memorable as the destination itself. Guests can sit back in beautifully restored heritage carriages as they travel through rolling countryside, historic towns and spectacular stretches of coastline, before enjoying time to explore their chosen destination.
The 2027 Spring and Summer collection offers a wide choice of regional boarding points, including Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Colchester North and Stratford in the east; Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Orpington and Bromley South in Kent and South London; Shoeburyness, Southend Central and Leigh-on-Sea in Essex; and Epsom, Dorking, Horsham, Pulborough, Arundel, Barnham and Chichester across Surrey and West Sussex. London departures include Victoria and Paddington, with additional boarding points available on selected routes.
Guests can choose between Pullman Dining and First Class, both offering an exceptional way to experience the splendour of steam luxury rail travel, combining beautifully appointed surroundings with attentive service and ever-changing views.
Pullman Dining invites guests to indulge in an exquisite onboard culinary journey, where impeccable service, meticulous attention to detail and beautiful scenery combine to create an experience unlike any other. Guests are seated in plush armchair-style seats at elegantly dressed tables for two or four, adorned with crisp white linen, fine china, sparkling glassware and fresh flowers. On full-day journeys, guests are welcomed aboard with a chilled Champagne Bellini followed by a multi-course breakfast. On the return journey, Champagne and canapés are followed by a four-course evening meal, accompanied by half a bottle of wine per person.
First Class provides a refined and leisurely experience for guests who prefer to travel without formal onboard dining. Elegantly restored carriages feature spacious cushioned seating around tables for two or four, with large picture windows framing the passing landscapes. Guests receive a celebratory welcome drink, with complimentary tea and coffee available throughout the journey. They are also welcome to bring their own picnic to enjoy at their seat, pre-book a traditional afternoon tea when making their reservation, or order a selection of drinks from the steward for service at their table throughout the journey.
