Multi-Million Pound Room Refurbishment Cements Malmaison Newcastle’s Reputation as a Leading Quayside Hotel

Visitors to Newcastle’s iconic Quayside can stay in style this summer following a £3.5million refurbishment of rooms and suites at leading hotel, Malmaison.

The hotel, located at the heart of the thriving Quayside area at the edge of the famous Gateshead Millennium Bridge, has recently undergone a complete overhaul of its rooms and suites following an investment of £3.5million.

The newly designed rooms feature bold colours and vibrant, contemporary wallpaper designs. All 122 rooms and suites have been totally redesigned and renovated to a high standard.

Bright reds and yellows mix with darker blues and greens in classically designed bedrooms which draw inspiration from retro pop art designs, while wall art in the rooms and throughout the hotel depict classic scenes of Newcastle landmarks.

The seventh floor plays host to Malmaison’s 14 suites and junior suites, which have also undergone a full renovation. All named after famous ships to reflect Newcastle’s shipbuilding history, each features its own unique design.

The bold colours continue across all suites and are complemented by bright wallpapers and wall coverings, each unique in design, influenced by the music and fashion scene of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Carpet and wall art across the corridors are also heavily influenced by Tyneside, with abstract designs featuring the famous Tyne bridges, while magpie wings pay homage to the city’s world famous football club.

All bathrooms have also received a full refit with clean, white tiling, timeless new fixtures and products by luxury Scottish brand, Arran.

Malissa Charlton, Cluster Sales Manager at Malmaison and Hotel du Vin Newcastle, believes the new rooms will help re-etablish the hotel’s reputation as one of Newcastle’s leading luxury destinations.

“With an unrivalled reputation as one of Newcastle’s leading luxury hotels, it’s important to remain fresh and vibrant and we felt it was time to give our rooms an update,” she said.

“We have spent a lot of time and money on getting them right – at Malmaison we refuse to compromise on quality or style and I think this is reflected in the level of luxury our new rooms offer.
