The Ivy Victoria Quarter only opened back in late September, but that hasn’t stopped them from owning Christmas in Leeds with their small yet perfectly formed festive cocktail menu.

We paid them a visit on a busy Thursday evening to find the place teaming with Christmas parties and couples on date night.

Set across two floors, the restaurant has stuck to the vintage art deco theme that’s synonymous with the brand, and it looks on point. We took a table upstairs and were soon nibbling on the moreish Zucchini Fries and Truffle Arancini Balls as we waited for our drinks. If you’re not in the mood for a full meal, both are well worth checking out and generously in portion too.

It’s also worth noting that The Ivy is not as expensive as some would have you believe, with the Christmas cocktails ranging from £6.50-£9.75. As well as four alcoholic options, there’s a Gingerbread Latte on the menu for the non-drinkers.

First up came the Hot Buttered Bourbon (7.50), which mixes Maker’s Mark Bourbon with vanilla syrup, hot water and a melting spiced butter. Definitely the one to go for if you need to warming up, this one was personal favourite.

The Gin-ger Fizz (9.75) is by far the most Insta-worthy tipple on the menu, consisting of Plymouth Gin, ginger and topped with lemongrass cordial and Ivy Champagne. I can be a bit take it or leave it when it comes to champers, but this concoction was a winner with its hint of fiery ginger.

The Mulled Wine (6.50) could definitely do with a more creative name, because it’s a cut above your bog-standard mulled wine effort thanks to the addition of Havana Especial Rum. Teamed up with a blend of winter spices and the usual red wine, it was far better than anything I’ve tried at the German Market.

We ended with the Merry Martini (8.75), which is more or less Christmas in a glass. Mixing Baileys, Absolut Vodka, pumpkin spice syrup, whipped cream and cinnamon, this would make the perfect dessert cocktail if you don’t have quite enough room left for pudding.
