In the heart of the Lake District, Gilpin’s two restaurants are inspired by Cumbria’s history as a centre of the spice trade. The Michelin-starred HRiSHi serves classic British dishes with a subtle Asian twist, while the relaxed Gilpin Spice has an open kitchen, offering tapas-style pan-Asian dishes inspired by countries along the spice trail. The restaurant at Northcote has retained its Michelin star since 1995, serving vibrant, flavourful dishes inspired by the local area. In addition to the á la carte menu, a variety of tasting menus are available, which diners can enjoy from the restaurant overlooking the Ribble Valley, or at the Chef’s Table, which includes a guided tour, sliding glass doors for a prime view into the kitchen and screens to watch close-ups. For those wanting to get in on the action, the Northcote Cookery School offers full and half-day culinary masterclasses throughout the year. On the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, the Feversham Arms’ 3-AA Rosette restaurant has three distinct menus: the signature six-course tasting menu, a seasonal market menu which changes regularly according to seasonal produce, and an á la carte menu which gives diners the freedom to choose from light vegetarian and fish dishes to the finest cuts of meat.
