Top celebs ditch the summer social media frenzy to live in the moment (at very exclusive holiday villas)

A-listers are ditching FOMO and going JOMO on holiday instead – but you’ll never get to see the pictures.

Forget the fear of missing out, the ‘joy of missing out’ is all about relaxing without the stress of social media and living in the moment.

That means no posting of shimmering Ibiza pools on Insta, no selfies on private yachts in the Med, and certainly no updates of that exclusive beach club and its eclectic cocktail menu.

Luxury villa company reports that high-end clients are swapping the crowd of selfie opportunists for quality time in the most lavish setting possible instead.

Here are their top three tips on how to JOMO like the A-Listers:

Ditch that film on your iPhone – and have a private cinema instead

The average person spends a whopping two hours and 22 minutes on social media each day according to a report by GlobalWebIndex – and it’s even worse for the top celebs. So, a JOMO holiday is a chance to refocus, to have some downtime and disconnect.

Of course, it can be tricky to put down the smartphone, so try switching it for another kind of tech that allows you to socialise in the real world. When your accommodation comes with a private cinema and a top-of-the-range games room, that temptation to look at Insta will simply melt away.

Stop floating on the stock market – and try drifting down a lazy river instead

We’re living in a sped-up modern world where the average family only spends 34 minutes together each day. And it’s even more hectic for those high net worth entrepreneurs with global business networks.

No wonder they want holidays which bring the family together and help everyone slow down. And what could be more chilled than a float around the latest must-have pool feature – your own lazy river?

Stop chasing Michelin stars – and let a private chef bring the vibe to you has noticed a sharp increase in requests for private chefs as the JOMO crowd shies away from those Michelin star restaurants and the selfie queue that goes with it.

After all, a relaxing meal is about eating together (and not having to hide the calorie-filled pudding on your latest Insta update).

“The JOMO trend is definitely here to stay,” said Chairman Keith Potts.

“We are increasingly finding our high net worth guests are looking for super-luxury accommodation that meets their family’s every need and invites them to truly relax, away from the constant glare of social media.

“From floating down the lazy river to a private pool, to unwinding in a home theatre or having your own VR games arcade, it’s about having everything you need for a holiday without having to leave the villa. It’s the way the A-Listers are holidaying these days.”
