With the warm weather set to continue throughout this week, I wanted to share some iced coffee based cocktails from Mr Black which will (hopefully!) help us cool down and beat the heat!
Mr Black has created a recipe for a boozy flat white ice pop which coffee lovers can make at home and enjoy in the sunshine:
- 200ml Mr Black
- 800ml Oat Milk
- 100ml Sugar Syrup
Combine in a large container, stir, pour into moulds, freeze overnight.
Mr Black also has some refreshing cocktail recipes including a Black & Tonic (twist on the classic gin & tonic) and Mango Margarita Negra (another twist on a fruity classic).
For those who are after a coffee refreshment without the alcohol, Solo Coffee is the perfect solution. Brainchild of two former baristas, Solo Coffee was the first in the UK to launch cold brew on subscription, meaning delicious coffee delivered straight to your door.
Focussed on doing one thing well, Solo Coffee uses nothing more than coffee and water to create a delicious cold brew – an excellent caffeine alternative for the hot days ahead! Coffee is a go-to for most, but drinking a hot coffee in 30 degree heat can feel somewhat inappropriate. But what if you still need something to wake you up? In comes your choice of an iced coffee or a cold brew. In short, the difference between the two is iced coffee is hot coffee cooled down, and cold brew is coffee brewed with cold water for 12-24 hours. Theo Garcia and Alex Foss Sims were baristas before launching Solo in 2018 and are very much pioneering the cold brew scene.
Theo comments on why we should be drinking cold brew: Cold brew tastes good as it is, it really doesn’t need milk and sugar like iced coffee does. That means it’s vegan, sugar free, and close to no calories. It’s less acidic, which means much easier on the stomach and all of these benefits (link).
Here’s a bit of info about the cocktails from Mr Black:
