BACKSTAGE AT PAULA KNORR WITH MUA MARTINA LATANZI – With LFW in full swing and inspirational beauty looks appearing from show to show, we got an exclusive backstage pass to see the make-up looks being created first hand. MUA Martina Lattanzi gives us a sneak peek at the Paula Knorr presentation.
Paula’s presentation took place at the main British Fashion Council show space on 19th February, showcasing her AW18 collection which included deconstructed and reconstructed shapes, to create a collection full of Paula’s signature cutting methods, dramatic drapes and fluid forms. Paula comments: “Womenswear today consists of everything from extreme nudity to demure precision. Inspired by this freedom, a body-hugging sensual collection evolved that pushes the boundaries of evening wear with distinct female power.”
To compliment Paula’s collection, MUA Martina Lattanzi created a look that was bespoke to each model, enhancing their personality and individuality. Martina says: “My make-up inspiration for this collection comes from the word UNIQUE. I created an exclusive beauty look for each model, tailored to their individual personality, age and self-expression. Make-up that brings out an idea of beauty that belongs to different ages. My inspiration was found in iconic women from the 90s: Jennifer Connelly, Tatjana Patitz, Charlize Theron, Kate Moss … all different to each other but connected to an idea of timeless beauty. An iconic make-up re-designed with a modern twist.”
Martina uses cult product Weleda Skin Food to create a natural highlight for each model, Martina says: “To add an extra dewy and bright finish, I used one of my favourite and signature products for this look … Weleda Skin Food … a multi-tasker that can be used as a face mask, moisturiser and highlighter. Backstage I normally use it as a natural highlighter to illuminate cheekbones, eyelids and brows to enhance the features that make a woman unique, and this time to create a shimmer that echoes the metallics in Paula’s collection.”
Accompanied by a strong lip to embody her inspiration of women from the 90s, Martina also uses Weleda’s latest launch, the Weleda Beauty Balms to create a base for her models and subtle contour. Martina comments: “I worked with Weleda’s new mineral pigment Beauty Balms rather than foundation – these are the lightest of products that even out minor blemishes but the skin remains luminous, letting the model’s individuality shine through.” In addition, the much loved Weleda favourite the Weleda Tinted Lip Balm in Berry Red was used as the ultimate multi-tasker, from as a subtle blush to as stunning eye colour.
But before any make-up look, comes exceptional skincare. Martina chose to use the Weleda Evening Primrose Concentrate to prep the skin this season. Martina says: “I am very excited to be introducing the beautiful Evening Primrose Concentrate into the skin-prep this season – this serum is a skincare must-have to add in to your beauty regime, especially in the coldest months of the year. After freshening the face with the One-Step Cleanser & Toner, I gently massage the serum into the skin followed by a little Evening Primrose Revitalising Day Cream made with organic evening primrose oil.
