York will be in Bloom! from Thursday, 5 to Sunday, 8 July, and to celebrate, The Ivy St Helen’s Square, York, has commissioned Yorkshire florist Fleur Adamo to decorate its restaurant façade. A limited-edition cocktail duo will also be available for one-week-only from 1 to 8 July, as well as new afternoon tea additions for the summer.
Fleur Adamo’s installation will cover the brasserie’s entrance with a colourful and eye-catching floral display of blooms including floral shrubs, trailing wisteria and ivy, all in celebration of York’s Bloom! Festival – marking the 250th anniversary of the Ancient Society of York Florists, the oldest florists’ society still in existence in the world.
To compliment the installation, The Ivy St Helen’s Square bar and chef teams have created two floral inspired cocktails and a floral afternoon tea, also available for guests to enjoy. The Floral Dance cocktail (£10) is a refreshing yet satisfying combination of Kew Organic Dry Gin, Elderflower cordial, egg white, lemon juice and fresh mint; the 1761 Gin Cosmo (£9) is also made with Kew Organic Dry Gin, in addition to Kew Orangery Triple Sec, cranberry, lime, orange bitters and orange zest. Both cocktails are served with a sprinkling of edible flowers.
The Ivy Nursery Pot will be available to order as part of the restaurant’s afternoon tea offering throughout Bloom!. Presented as a nursery pot, the dessert features an indulgent chocolate topping, lavender cream and edible flowers, creating a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds.
